Who are these people? Do they post here? Are they insiders? I'm confused by why we'd care about random people on another website and what they think.
Could totally see that happening. But if that’s the case, why did the reporting come out that Dame knew 26 Jun he was asking out? (and pedantically—if the other teams hadn’t “turned them down” the deal would be done. If it hasn’t been consummated it’s still “working”. I’m sure if you called Cronin today and said ‘is Dame for the pu pu platter going to happen?” He’d say no. But it’s still “working”. And that’s just one. (and great point about agents and GMs not incentivized to push absolute truth.)
If Dame ends up in Miami, we'll know it wasn't a staredown, but merely theatre to give the illusion that it was a staredown.
Time for Blazers to go scorched earth. If Dame won't go anywhere else, publicize that we want to get deals done with different teams and let everyone see what a baby Dame is being. If he doesn't play for us (hopefully the case) withhold his pay. We know he's thrifty as hell and that situation wouldn't last long.
They aren't getting Bam or Butler. An additional pick or second rounder is all that they can muster. They don't have much and that's not going to magically change. Boston can offer much more.
Stren, Im really not that concerned about who win and loses in this situation. Both have had opportunities that they missed on and both are still in the game as a profession. As Prop has mentioned its should be about fairness then move on. If you think Dame has pigeon holed us thats your right, but Dame, as a team star has been about as good a citizen & local representative this team has ever had and I dont see how he alone is the culprit in this standoff? Dame has always come across as reasonable and helpful when it comes to addressing things. Im thinking he has given the team a list of 2-4 teams which would be always reasonable, but it's ok for him to have a preferred destination. I Still think he will end up in Miami and we will get a decent return.
If the "staredown" results in Jovic and JJJ's inclusions, as well as Herro (and Duncan and/or Lowry) being redirected elsewhere before the deal is consummated, then we can give Cronin credit for holding out for a quality deal.
I think this all happens. dame will go to Miami and we will get a decent return via third party inclusion.
Boston is prepared to give us Jaylen Brown and you're talking about the likes of Duncan and Lowry? Those guys aren't worth anything, my guy. Why would we give credit for that?
Again, I would only give credit if we don't receive Duncan or Lowry, and instead end up with picks and prospects. I honestly don't know how legit the Jaylen Brown trade rumors are, but I'm not sure I'd want him anyway, considering he's only got 1-year remaining on his existing deal. I'd have no confidence that he'd remain here, or that Cronin would be able to return decent value for him at the deadline. If the suggested 3-way deals sending Brown to Houston for picks/prospects (including Thompson) are in fact valid, then that would be fantastic, but all of that is only speculated; there's no legit reason to assume any of that is actually available.
They've been trying to trade him for a star forever and he's been eligible for an extension since July 1st. They would 100% give Brown for Lillard and Tatum has been recruiting.
We wouldn't take Brown, we would send him to a team he'd like to go to like Houston who can give us young talent like Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith and or Tari Eason.
I would agree that a deal sending Dame to Boston and returning Amen and Eason (along with other pieces) would probably be better than anything we could get from Miami, but I remain dubious that that is actually available.
Boston gets Dame Houston gets Brown Blazers get Jabari Smith Jr, Amen Thompson, and Tari Eason Done deal?
