Dame’s an asshole. https://basketball.realgm.com/wiret...yond-Heat-Theyd-Be-Trading-For-Unhappy-Player
No. 4 is a terrific point. We have paradoxical narratives that Dame wanted to win now but Dame also felt slighted because he thought the Blazers, by drafting the guy considered a potential transcendent player in a draft with three guys like that, was simultaneously too young to help Dame accomplish that while also being so advanced that he was going to push out the door almost immediately. Pretzel logic.
Dame is probably pissed that he has to leave and that the Blazers screwed him out of competing here. Dame gave Portland plenty of chances. For years. I think he'll regret this decision, but I don't blame him for making it.
Yeah in general, I don't blame him for wanting a better chance to get a ring, but at the same time, I wish he had went about it a bit different. Blazer legend sure, but sooner he is gone, the better for the team, take that for what you want.
I think it's pretty likely he is even pissed at his agent (who has probably been pushing him to leave Portland), and he's telling him that he wants out, and he wants to go to Miami. Make it happen. I seriously doubt Dame is pulling the individual strings. His agent is trying to make it happen for his client, and I doubt he cares what happens to Dame's legacy. From his agent's perspective, he needs to make it tough on Portland to keep Dame. Because the longer Portland holds out the more likely they are to get a better offer from another team. And that might get a certain agent's ass fired.
If anything was happening that Dame didn't agree with, he would 100% speak up. When Henry Abbott was putting it out there a couple years ago that Dame wanted out, he spoke up and refuted it.
I never had a day where I was insulted more randomly than yesterday (on Twitter, this place is better believe it or not). So many random people who came out of the woodworks, I heard it all. Grown men throwing insults at anyone who didn't have praise for Cronin and then would play the victim when they got blocked. It's absurd. Most of my YouTube community seems to differ in opinion from a lot of the stuff I see online, so at least I have a safe place haha. It's comical that the FO is trying to flip it after saying they were obligated to build a winner around Dame and then did nothing of the sort. I don't see any player handling being a Blazer better than Dame so if we're turning on him, why should we ever embrace anyone since they'll be held to a bar no one will reach?
Yup. I'm tired of people trying to proclaim what other people are fans of and aren't fans of, and it's always missing context. We have hundreds to thousands of posts on a fucking forum, of course we're all Blazer fans.
It's buried in another thread, but I pointed out that the way to build winners Dame-style ("get me good vets") is to stockpile 3 things--space to take on bad contracts as riders, draft picks, and young players, preferably with a lotto pedigree. Dame already showed that (for instance) RoCo and Powell weren't going to get him there. (Even after the 2 1sts for RoCo and more 1sts for Nance Jr.) So Dame was already influencing (overtly or not) the FO giving up those things you need for stars while going after not-stars. Now that Cronin's here, he got rid of large contracts, took chances on young players, and traded for draft picks. He then was able to get Dame's Olympic buddy Grant. This year, just didn't have enough picks and young talent for that. There have been plenty of ideas on how to handle being a better Blazer. Off the top of my head: 1) don't take dirty laundry public. 2) don't hamstring your team with a one-location trade request before you've gotten a paycheck on your shiny new supermax extension.
...piggybacking your earlier conspiracy, maybe Ole Hank Abbott was telling the truth because he got inside info into this 2yr plan we've seen play out
I think this is a much different situation. Dame doesn't want to leave Portland and end up in Utah. Him speaking up could really impact these negotiations...
Goodwin works for Dame, this is Dame. He’s coming across as a massive hypocrite and entitled bitch. Has any player without a no trade clause listed 1 team to be traded to?
If he goes to Miami, it's for a kings ransom from two teams. Fuck all this bullshit. Dame is being a fucking diva.
“Thus, by a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.“
This is a battle of wills. I imagine that Dames agent sat down with Dame and asked him where he wanted to go and Dame said his ideal spot was Miami and then Aaron Goodwin said “ok I will get you there.” I think the only reason why we are seeing this is because they think Joe is shit and that they can bully him. There’s no way they pull this shit on Danny Ainge or Riley or any other experienced GM. Joe has to show them that he can’t be bullied. I have a feeling that the offer isn’t even the best that Miami can offer.
Then he should bring some receipts, or tell his agent to act as professionally as he is. I get wanting to stay clean, but Goodwin is tracking mud on his nice new mansion floors.
