I was going off of TV market size. My guess is Denver is larger because there's nothing else out there for a LONG time. Toronto is almost 3 million itself, let alone their metro population of over 6 million. They are anything but a "small market", it's considered one of the most international cities in the world. Denver has MLB, NHL, NFL and NBA (and MLS)...I wouldn't consider that "small market" either.
Technically, he already was 2" taller before the injury, since they listed him at 6'2" on the SL roster.
Regardless of market size, teams have to be well managed to become contenders. Big markets do have an advantage with more endorsement dollars for top stars, which the Purple and Piss has capitalized on the most. For the Trailblazers, not only are they a smaller market, but just the way the country filled up right to left, no one who isn't in the market has a rooting interest in them. Conversely, smaller market East Coast teams have fans all over the country. Ratings wise, a small market West Coast team brings less fans nationally then a small market from the East or Midwest. I recall many instances where national media types were openly rooting against a good PTB team because of the poor ratings they generate. For the Blazers to draw eyeballs nationally, they'll have to be not only good but compelling. During the Stern era, something was clearly off in the way the officiating doled out calls in the playoffs. A quality small market team would always get hosed in the playoffs when up against a ratings giant. Fans expected it and it was often blatant. Thankfully the officiating seems much more evenhanded under Silver. STOMP
I seen enough of scoot and knowing he will be fine leading the Blazers at point guard next. Really impress how he played at his own pace the hold time in there. The game didn't seem to fast for him and actually like his defense yesterday he come along ways when I last saw him play.
Did anyone see a point in the game where he could have had the impact? I didn't see much other than the slight impact with Jabari Smith as he came down on the last play before he went to free throws and then they subbed #57 in. Maybe something just built up from prior and they are choosing to address it now after he had a decent showing. Like they are just going to do some preseason surgery or something? Seems odd. But, yeah we saw what happened to Shaedon last year. Fingers crossed we get good news today!
Off-topic re: the Stern Era, Bill Simmons on his podcast last week laid out the story of when they were about to start his NBA studio show, and Stan Van Gundy was going to be a commentator. David Stern (who somehow hated the Van Gundys) went to ESPN and basically said "I'm not letting two Van Gundys on TV for my product. Find someone else." So it went to Jalen Rose. Speaking ill of the dead, the more stories come out about him, the worse a person he seems. And I didn't like him much when we was still the Commish.
I thought the report was that male Blazers fans were at least two inches longer (the average was brought down tremendously by HCP) after seeing Scoot’s debut and upside.
Keon’s dislocated finger was actually attached to Scoot’s hand making him have a 6 digit right hand. True story.
The absence of news on the injury makes me nervous Man, i was just talking the other day about how Shaedon's injury was a bummer last year and now this... If he's ruled out for the rest of the Summer League we won't see him til October, that's 4 months of waiting.... It would be a miracle if he could somehow play tomorrow
The lack of news is a tad concerning. Amen has a grade 2 sprain out 2-3 weeks. Let’s release some news
