And don’t forget that this kid is training and being mentored by Steph Curry.

Russell Westbrook or Derrick Rose with a jump shot sounds absolutely terrifying…

Game 1 of summer league was very impressive, I haven't seen a Blazer control a team like that since Dame was drafted.

If you don't want to hear hype maybe don't read these threads? Some of us would prefer to hear the hype, and consider potential of Scoot. It's more enjoyable than Lillard trades that are nowhere close, overpaid players, or other depressing Blazer issues.

Sc00t's energy is infectious. I really wonder if Sc00t got in Devoe's ear about being more focused on getting the team involved. It seemed like the whole team tonight was focused on making the extra pass.

Yeah was at the game I and others next to me saw him standing and coaching from the sidelines. He was pointing things out to the ref too. Very active in the corner.

I'll say it before anyone else.

If Scoot can get to hitting 3-pointers at the league average, and he can learn to be a good defender, he could end up being one of the best point guards ever.
    I can't think of a super-strong/fast/athletic point guard that was a good 3-point shooter.

I strongly believe Scoot will be fine as a 3 point shooter. His shot form and mechanics look good, he's super dedicated to working on the game. He'll put in any work needed. He might never be an amazing 3pt shooter which is fine. He just needs to be good enough so teams can't leave him open. Mid career Jason Kidd level. If it takes a couple years that's fine too, Blazers aren't contending now.

The defense is something I'm hopeful of but not as sure of. I hope he gets good coaching, good teammates, and he puts in the needed work. He needs good defending veterans on the team, and playmaking help.

That's one reason I'm very hesitant to trade away Ant, all the sudden Scoot has to run the team 35-40 minutes per game and setup everything offensively. Having Ant able to shoulder some of that load will keep Scoot fresh and able to give more effort on defense. Ant also navigates screens well on defense. He needs to make improvements to be a solid defender, but he has physical tools to be better than Dame or CJ ever were. So the defensive shortcomings of DameCJ or DameAnt may never be a concern with ScootAnt.

It is terrifying, because even without a jumpshot, both Westbrook and Rose won the league MVP
award, Westbrook in 2017 and Rose in 2011.

c'mon man....context maybe? My post was right after a post of a video about how the NBA will "regret sleeping on Scoot". There was a cartoon-like caption of Scoot saying "Y'all F***ed up" Can you explain to me just how it was that the NBA was "sleeping" on Scoot? He was projected as the 2nd or 3rd pick for months when the 1st pick was already a lock because of being a generational talent. It's been said a hundred times if it was a 'normal' draft, Scoot would have been a #1 pick. Teams were trying to jockey up to get a top-3 pick and most of that effort was to be able to get Scoot, not Miller.

nobody, I mean nobody at all, was sleeping on Scoot, except for maybe Charlotte, but they have LaMelo so maybe their eyes weren't even droopy. That's the kind of hype I was talking about

Not to be a wet blanket, but I would very much like it if we put a bit of a damper on all this excitement about Scoot. Don't get me wrong, I think he will be a very good player for us, perhaps even great.

Let's just remember, he is going to be a rookie, regardless of his two years in the G-League. He has holes in his game. He will be scouted and forced to those weak points. The defense will be more physical and more talented. The travel grind will be harder. The attention will be more intense. He will have the weight of the franchise on his shoulders. Bottom line, he is going to struggle. And that will be okay.

I just want to make sure that when he does struggle, we show why we've been known as great fans. Support him, have some understanding. The morons in the media will blow him up to tear him down. I want him to know that we're patient and we're excited about what he can be, not what he is today.
