he did get the 'better' of the picks. Blazers would have landed a lottery pick if Paul George didn't get Covid. The Pels were not going to trade the unprotected Laker's pick...no chance

I honestly believe it is due to many factors. I mention Dames age and contract. But they are not different from Durant. But Durant is 6'10, two times finals mvp and has had tons of playoff success. Dame, none of that. Durant is an option 1 on a playoff team. Dame is a second option. Just my opinion. Dame is a very good offensive player, but he provides no defense. Durant is a great defensive player too. I want Portland to get every once of blood out of this deal, but Dame does not seem to be worth a package of Bridges, Johnson and 4 FRP's when he only allows you to deal with one team that is lacking in assets. I'm sure Utah could do better. But Utah is not in play at this time.

Why is KD the only comp?

AD with one yr left (and a similar one destination scenario) brought back Ingram, Ball, Hart and picks.

Mitchell brought back Lauri, Sexton, Agbaji, and picks.

Nets gave up Jarrett Allen, LeVert, Taurean Princ, and three picks for Harden.

Ben Simmons brought back James Harden.

We don't have to do a shit deal now. Just wait.

Coulda woulda shoulda. Should have negotiated the better of the picks. It wasn't clear that the Lakers were going to be a lottery team at that time.

We're bending over backwards trying to make excuses when everyone said we got fleeced at the time. It worked out because Dame recruited Jerami.

Only used Durant because of the ages of each player, comp wise. AD, Mitchell and Gobert younger than Dame. The Harden trades always make me cringe because he asks out after 2-3 seasons. But Harden was younger than Dame is now when commanding that haul. I agree to wait. Lillard has probably 2 prime years left, and a couple more good years, then the complete fall off other than becoming a bench sniper. Miami needs prime Dame now. I want every once Portland can extract.

But we negotiated that trade for CJ with Grant in mind. We specifically asked for the TPE and pick with trading for Grant. They were intrinsically linked. Maybe that trade would have been negotiated differently if we weren't preparing for the Grant trade..... but CJ sucks. In the end I think we fleeced them.

We weren't willing to push ALL (Sharpe+Scoot) of our chips in (Rightfully So). But if that's what Dame expected than good riddance.

And I don't think Joe ever actually said ALL of our chips. He said push our chips in.

The best offer Miami can package is fine - but its nothing like that tweet of two picks and one prospect. Its 3 unprotected picks plus 2 unprotected pick swaps, and Caleb Martin, three 2nd rounders, and both Jovic /javquez. Yeah I probably settle for letting them keep Martin or keeping some 2nd's, etc; but it should be pretty damn close to their max offer, not that lowballed crap.

Miami can also do 3 pick swaps unprotected and Caleb Martin and three 2nd rounders. I'm not saying they have to include all of it, but what you list certainly isn't the "best package Miami can offer"

Yep. Welcome to the Blazers, Dame. Even if he had a no trade clause he couldn't force us to trade him.

You can sit and spin, my friend. You're a Blazer for life unless we get a good return.

Kyrie's agent did the same. Same with Leonard and Donovan Mitchell.

    Guess what?

The GMs had the cajones to get the most value for them regardless of where the player wanted to go. He doesn't have a trade clause. Dame can be traded anywhere and nobody really buys that he'll sit out or cause a shit storm.

Dame and his agent are fine, they can request this or that or blab their mouth for whatever. Joe is the one who will decide to accept or not accept an offer. If he accepts a shit return thats entirely his fault.

I'm not sure Grant will be considered a good trade now or especially in 6-24 months. I'd much rather have Duren on a rookie contract than Grant earning $160 million.

I guess if the Blazers had been able to build a winner around Dame last year or this summer the Grant acquisition would be fine. But then why all the other rebuilding moves that led to a shit tanking roster.

    Well, that's two separate things.

Dame and his agent are to blame for the bad offer.

If Joe accepts the bad offer, that's on him.
