I saw one video with that asshole in it and I won't watch another minute of him. The worst of the worst
Honestly, this should be the Heat's offer. If there are no other competitors on the marketplace for Dame, don't send Portland any picks at all! Miami simply needs to decide whether they want Dame or not. If they want him, they have to pay the @#$! up.
Are Heat really considering this LaVine trade or do they just want to try and put pressure on Cronin to do a Dame deal?
If they do the LaVine deal Joe will be the happiest guy in the league. Miami is off the board and everyone can start bidding on Dame like he doesn't have a preferred destination. Miami does have to get things moving though because they feel like they are close to winning it all and they need to fill out that roster and no who they are building around.
If Miami settles for LaVine, that opens up the market for Dame to other teams. I doubt this possibility bothers Cronin....at least, it shouldn't
Miami can't wait till the trade deadline on Dame....I'd think they have already lost Strus and Vincent. Next season might start out a disaster if they haven't upgrade their roster
I guess one rumor is Lavine for Herro/Duncan Robinson/Jovic. Not sure how LaVine really gets Miami to contend. Sounds like they have burned their relationship with Herro so have to trade him. I really like the idea of getting Miami swaps in 2027 2029 and picks in 2028 2030 all 4 years unprotected. I know many say how Miami historically gives up late picks, but thats a trend until it isn't. I'm not convinced they can keep winning after Dame/Butler prime and the league has way more parity than it used to. That could be a huge benefit if the Blazers build a winner by those years but are adding high lottery picks while making the playoffs. Thats the type of assets that could actually help the Blazers build a legit contender even if Jody insists on ducking the tax. But yeah Miami needs to offer all 4 of those. Ideally Blazers get a 2027 pick for Herro to ensure that year's Miami swap. The other picks I really like are the Phoenix ones from Brooklyn in 2027 and 2029. But that is only two years. Boston has their own picks but Tatum/Brown/etc are so young I don't think there is the upside as in Miami or Phoenix.
If Herro and Chicago do the deal I would have some concern it takes a bidder out of the Dame offers. Yeah I know the 1 team list sucks and it would be good to not have that restriction. But theres not a ton of teams that can contend and have a PG opening. Especially if the Blazers insist on sending Dame east (which I think they shouldn't worry about). Milwaukee doesn't have assets. NY, Cleveland, Atlanta already have short guards. Bulls don't have assets. So if Miami is off the board who is left? Boston/Philly/Nets/Raptors is it. -Philly doesn't have the assets unless they include Maxey which they very well may not (he's what 22) plus that would require a 3rd team -Boston is pretty difficult just to match salaries. Brown and Dame are super good friends so I think thats actually one team he legit may refuse to play for if the proposal is being traded for his friend. -Raptors - do you really think Masai is going to give up more than the Heat in a trade? History probably says no. -Nets would possibly by default be the only option and they aren't necessarily trying to win now and may not want to push in a ton of picks. I think its better if we keep Miami as a potential bidder even if trying to get other team offers. Or the Blazers need to accept trading Dame to a western team.
I hope they do. TBH, even letting this rumor run wild should give Dame and Goodwin a reason to pause. All that does is trigger an arms race among the EC contenders. Dame wants out and, regardless of what Cronin is saying, I think he's nuked the bridge behind him. The Celtics, Sixers and Bucks ... among other teams ... would be moved to answer the Heat getting Lavine, though, which means now demand grows and you have competition for deals. Would Dame, in this situation, change his one team? Seems like that'd be ill-conceived.
I just don't know any east team is giving us significantly better offers even if Dame has them on his list. I guess Brooklyn - but if they're the only team on the list aren't we just in the same spot as now except a trading partner that is less desperate to win immediately? I'm not saying take the Miami shit offer - better to hold out. But I think having Miami out there as a bidder is an advantage to the Blazers regardless of the list.
In theory yes, but right now we're in a game of chicken. Either Dame blinks or we do. Actually there's two games of chicken. There's Riley and Joe and then there's Dame and Joe. So if Miami is off the board, and Dame is serious about leaving, he has to reevaluate his options.
Miami making that deal would be awesome for us... which is almost never the case (having one potential buyer opting out of the market)
