Vikings | Team talking trade with Atlanta?Tue, 4 Apr 2006 05:50:19 -0700Kevin Seifert, of the Star Tribune, reports the Minnesota Vikings are talking with the Atlanta Falcons about a trade involving QB Matt Schaub, according to two people with knowledge of the situation. The talks were casual and did not lead to formal negotiations, the sources said, but the interaction confirms the Vikings' desire to add depth to the position, either through a trade or in this month's NFL Draft. The Vikings have five picks in the first three rounds and probably would have to part with their first-round pick, No. 17 overall, in order to complete a trade. If the team traded for Schaub, he would be the favorite to be the starting quarterback for the 2006 season.

Just reported by Jay Glazer on NFL Radio and he said the Falcons in return want a 2nd and 3rd round draft choice. Glazer also stated that the Vikings are reluctant to give the #17 selection because team officials have their eye on Ernie Sims LB out of Flordia State and would most likely select him if he is available at that time. If this deal falls through he firmly believes the Vikings will go forth with Brad Johnson for this season and look at Free Agency next off-season for their QB of the future.

I think he has a good shot at beating Brad Johnson out for the starting job if he goes over to Minny

a 2nd and 3rd round draft choice? That's a little too much IMO. Schaub is good and all but the Vikings only received a 2nd rounder for Culpepper, who IMO, is better than Schaub at this point.

Culpepper also had a shredded leg and coming off his worst season in his career, by far.

The Vikings Should wait for the draft there are good prospects coming out of the NFL Draft like Brodie Croyle and Omar Jacobs that could be in the 2nd round.

And get another decent QB? No way.I'd give up two seconds MAYBE and a second and a third for sure to get him. Sure he's expiring after this year but we NEED a young QB and wont get it in the draft this year or next.

Yes, he does have alot of potential, but hes not worth a first round pick and nobody is going to pay that for him. Hell, my Jets traded a 3 time Pro-Bowler for a lower pick then the Falcons are demanding for a BACKUP QB.

a 2nd round pick for schaub sounded somewhat fair to me. Atlanta is obsessed with him. He is OK but not worth a 1st rounder. He hasn't even played a full season yet.
