I love this attitude O’Connor: If he’s not back, you’re thrown right in the driver’s seat. Scoot: Exactly. And I’m with that. If he leaves, I’m going to just embrace that. I’m going to embrace being the point guard for the team. And that comes with practice. I don’t have my spot guaranteed; I know that. My goal is to get better every day at practice and get better game by game.
Talk is cheap. They all had the opportunity to trade for him for a good starter lever player to keep Dame in Portland and none of them chose to do so. Hope it comes to bite them in the rear.
8 assists? as a 19 year old rookie? other rookies: Doncic 6.0 Morant 7.3 Trae 8.1 Haliburton 5.3 (wasn't a full-time starter, 7.4 in his 2nd season) Jrue 3.8 (didn't hit the 8 assist plateau till his 4th season when 22) Westbrook 5.3 CP3 7.8 Curry 5.9 Conley 4.9 LaMelo 6.1 Blazers won't have a lot of shot-makers either. If Scoot hits the 7 assist threshold it will be quite an accomplishment
I think it's possible. He is a willing passer and he's very good at finding the open man. Luka is basically a taller Dame.
Scoot certainly knows how to give the right answer. Let's hope it's more than just saying the right thing. His actions in SL show he's off to a good start, both on the court and on the sidelines.
I think it's a very valid hypothetical. Much of this past year, Wemby and Scoot were back and forth as the #1 prospect. Then Wemby's off-balance 3-pointer highlights went viral and his stock shot up with no one actually watching him play. (Terrible efficiency on line 1.) Mr. Generational was barely on people's radar a year ago. I was rather bummed when we ended up with the 3rd pick in what I figured was a 2-player draft. The one game I watched of Brandon Miller was extremely underwhelming. But, Jordan at the helm and Charlotte drafting for need means we got arguably the co-#1 at #3. I still need to be convinced that Scoot is durable and his offensive and defensive numbers are better than his G-League averages indicate, but I'm trying to ignore that because he checks all the boxes of hopeful leader and star.
I don't remember seeing Scoot as the #1 prospect at all in the past year, but maybe I missed something? Wemby's been on radars for much longer than a year.
I'm looking forward to 11 years of Scoot being a great teammate and leader, an all-NBA player that embraces Portland before suddenly doing an about-face and turning out to be Kaiser Soze.
I'm looking forward to Dame coming back his last year after failing in Miami and being Scoot's backup as we win a championship.
Amidst all this Dame drama, sometimes you gotta take a step back and re-appreciate: we somehow walked away with Scoot fucking Henderson. That’s so insane.
