Congrats, you're now an important member of Jody's bodyguard team. There are expectations, and Jody is requesting a special off-the-books meeting with you soon...
How did he flip on a dime when he warned Blazers management publicly and behind close doors if they continue a youth movement then he’s out?
In the meantime cross your fingers that Josh Jacobs shows up on the tag or an extension is figured out.
I think he will show up, didn’t Bell sitting for a year kinda show RBs it’s dumb to sit out. I don’t think he’s walking from 10 mil.
i guess more like flipped on a dime to put the organization he loved in a bind where they can only have one trade partner currently... and also essentially flip on his brand identity as a whole.
I haven't been diligent, and have taken the week off, but that's because my kid got married yesterday, so I've been busy. But I'm back now, baby!!
He flipped on a dime being loyal to the franchise because they wouldn't/couldn't do the impossible... & then went scorched earth. Of course management told him what he wanted to hear, an expected part of their job is to keep their best players happy. Of course management tried to make the impossible happen (surprise! No one wanted to trade superstars for Portland's scrap heap of talent). Thank goodness they didn't trade picks for mediocre vets, that was the previous (fired) management's mode of operation. If Portland had traded the #3 for the next RoCo or Evan Turner, what guarantee do they have that Dame won't pull this oft threatened self centered outta here act regardless leaving Portland holding the bag of another overpaid vet and no promising young stud? What cure all trade did they leave on the table? Dude is 1 year in on a supermax contract to play for the Portland Trailblazers. Either he signed that contract fully knowing that they'd have pretty much no chance of landing the sort of players that would change the team's trajectory or he's an idiot. He's not an idiot. Giving him credit for that, it seems this has been the plan for quite a while now. The catch 22 situation that current management was in was noted by many here as a completely obvious oncoming conflict of interests. Dame's side certainly saw it coming for miles. I expected he'd want out but also expected he'd handle his exit with class. I was completely wrong on that. STOMP
Which brings me back to the point of Hurt people, hurt people (or organizations) while this was certainly somewhat foreseen by most people but i think a lot of people were hoping or thinking that dame is a smart and while hes said before and hes not a GM type of guy you would think that he could see that the route cronin took while not the most ideal for what dame wanted was the probably on the better side of options we had and wouldnt go scorched earth to try and bend his way to one team only.
