Yes, I would prefer a good young center. But if that does not happen I am ok with Capela and picks vs Herro and picks. Then draft a center that can develop behind Capela for a couple of years. But again I would rather have Duren or Allen.

That's the DLBT metric. Only Dan knows the formulation.

So only people with opinions you deem good should be able to have an opinion?

    North Korea, much?

I'm glad the idea of Jaylen Brown getting traded for Dame made you laugh. Someone's gotta bring out that dark, lonely soul. ;-)

It is his M.O., he thinks he is endearing with it.

Trade Nurkic, Little and a #1 protected top 7 pick for Ayton.

He’s about to turn 25 and fits our rebuild perfectly. Scoot, Sharpe and Simons and Ayton fit and Grant can be traded at the deadline for a PF that can play with Ayton

Couple this with a Dame trade and we’ll be playoff-bound in two years

Yeah Blazers should leverage the value Dame has today to get good roster fits right now. Normally I'm all for drafting BPA - or just acquiring BPA in general. But this is the opposite perfect time you hold out for fit. I guess in theory if we were being offered SGA or another All-NBA player who was younger and eager to play here maybe you could kick the can down the road.

But you don't kick it for Maxey/Herro/etc.

Just a thought that entered my mind just now:

Dame asked out because Joe couldn't pull a deal to bring win now talent.

But if Joe forced a trade just to make Dame happy we would have overpayed by a lot. Good for Dame for a season or two. Great for everyone if it resulted in a ring. Bad if you threw away the chance at Shaedon and Scoot for a non championship team.

Joe probably thought, "I don't think trading Shaedon and Ant and more for OG or Scoot and Ant and possibly more for Mikal is gunna result in a championship so I will make the correct decision. Hopefully Dame understands."

(Dame looked at Joe's team-well-being move as Joe being a traitor)

Now by saying Miami only, Dame essentially wants Joe to take less for him.

What Joe has done so far is for the best interest of the team.

What Dame wanted last year, this year at the draft, and now with the trade request is selfish.

    End of that rant.

    Unrelated:

I think Paul Pierce is exaggerating when he said Miami will not get past the first round with Dame, but I also think his points are valid.

That Capela thing confused me. Gotta be a joke.

Yeah, what was I thinking? 20 million for a former 1st-team all-defense player who averaged 11 rebounds per game last year. That is a horrible deal when obviously we want to fucking tank again. We need to pay more to bring back another guard for matching salaries

My god, these guys are somethin else. Holy crap was that a slanted 20-minute listen...

Amazing to me that the entire point of the conversation is "how much is too much for Dame", and they even get as far as "viable roster-filling free agents are signing elsewhere so the cupboard will be bare" (which is obviously a talking point for Blazer leverage), but then their takeaway from that is, so, just do the deal now for what we're offering *because*...

Every day this thing drags on I think Cronin gains leverage against Miami and I think Dame's destination becomes less and less likely to be Miami...

I think we're waiting until Dame opens up his list.

I think we're hoping we can do Boston. I think it's REALLY weird that Jaylen Brown hasn't been extended.

Yep. Whether its us taking Brown or sending him to Houston, I think either of those outcomes really fit what we're clearly needing and wanting to do more than crappy future 1s and a couple young players with some upside...

Marang said it in his podcast today, but I have been begging for Boston for months. Dame to Boston, Brown to Houston, picks and young studs to Portland. It's my dream.

Zach Lowe seemed pretty sure it will be done pretty soon. I wouldn't have too much hope on this.

If we are insisting on Jamie Jaquez Jr. (not saying we are but it's a possibility) then it won't be done until at least August 1st.

According to Strennus, Jaylen Brown being involved in a Dame trade is pretty stupid and won't happen. I don't think he wants us to discuss it either fyi. lol

I saw the earlier parts of this (played it while having lunch)

    - they hope portland would eventually accept tyler hero, duncan robinson, draft compenasation for dame

    - they don't want to include caleb martin

    - they don't even think jaquez and/or jovic would be part of dame trade

    - they really think they have no competition

    ---‐------------------------------

I hope Joe doesn't trade Dame just to trade Dame.

Jimmy and Bam will ask out of Miami if they don't get Dame or they get stuck wasting their prime. We have better talent than them for the future. They have Bam, an aging and declining Jimmy, and scraps. We can't rescue them just cause.

I don't care if it's awkward Dame is still here next season. Wait it out. The options will expand come Christmastime.
