I hope that we can keep religion and politics out of this. So, while we are waiting for the supposed off-season mega trade, I thought we might blow off a little steam. Just got back from a 10 hour drive last week that started in N Central Cali, and ended back here in the Metro. Since I came up 97 through Susanville and Bend, I had many opportunities take advantage of passing/slow lane options for trucks and slow vehicles. Essentially, they are designed to allow those cars being held up...to get around a vehicle who either can't do the speed limit, or chooses not to. So, my beef is.....why in %$@# do folks who are holding up the line, suddenly speed up when they get over to the right to "appear" that they are letting cars around them? I think I feel my blood pressure rise just remembering it....
because they just realized they were nodding off? Driving in public lowers the IQ of many people by about half. Mine is people who make you brake by pulling into traffic ahead of you or speed up to pass you and then put their turn signal on and stop until they can turn. Now is Country Fair season where I live and there are mind altering substances controlling traffic conditions....not uncommon to get stuck behind a VW microbus going about 35 on a two lane hiway with a 55 speed limit and no passing lanes for miles.
My take, short version. Many people have found being passive aggressive to be such an effective tool to achieve some agenda, they have turned being passive aggressive into a full time life style. These assholes are everywhere and enjoy mucking things up for everyone, everywhere they go.
Everyone is dealing with something. We should be practicing more grace and patience with our fellow citizens.
I would not say I am a perfect driver by any means, but am pretty good and tend to get road rage easily when people act like idiots on the road: Blowing my doors to pass me just so they can get to an exit 15 seconds quicker, not using turn signals, etc. Another everyday life thing is simply how rude and/or discourteous people have become. Went to the grocery store a couple days ago, of course they were understaffed so only one line was open, and me with my 3 items was right behind a woman with no joke, probably 500 dollars worth of stuff in her carts, yes plural carts; she met my eyes and saw my little amount of items, and do you think she did the courterous thing and let me go first? Heck fucking no she did not.
Thanks for the replies. To clarify, I'm not a road rage driver. Probably the opposite. I do however feel frustration when drivers seem to show disrespect for others.....on purpose. I heard a saying one day that has stuck with me. "If you ran into an a'hole today, you ran into an a'hole. If you run into an a'hole everyday....you're an a'hole".
People who torch off burn piles in the fall on beautiful sunny days when they are rare enough already...usually on the weekends...if you're going to burn a pile of pitch pine and slash try to do it when it's cold and raining outside. Not when people want to enjoy their deck and have a barbeque!
People who waste water is my biggest pet peeve. Running the water while brushing, I personally can shower in less than 10 minutes.
would you consider a golf course a waste of water? They require enormous amounts of irrigation to stay in shape.
When we see temporary water shut downs as a consequence as they do in other parts of the world, I'm sure all sectors will be affected. We will probably see artificial grass that mimics golf courses in the future?
Flew 6,000 miles yesterday and ended up in the same city where my day began (Portland). You wanna talk about frustrations…. FAMS!
