Top of the 1st Yankees at bat. Peraza eeks a hit up and thru the middle. GianKarlo strikes out swatting way late at a blazing 95mph fastball, he missed by a foot or more. Followed by GT's off balanced late swing SO that could have left him face down in the dirt, but he gets a hit, Peraza to 2nd. Rizzo strikes out. 2 RISP stranded. Next inning- Angel's Neto face first slide into Trevinos mask/helmet, and he’s Out, by 5 feet with a bloody nose...neato...I mean Neto. Volpe AB top o' 4th. Chicken Parm anyone? Volpe SO swinging at a fastball 6-9 inches up and out of the zone!
4-3 loss in the 10th. More garbage all around as the Yankees strike out 17 times. There's nothing good here except Severino finally pitched a good six innings. The bullpen suddenly can't get anyone out and the offense continues it's enemic ways.
Again, wake up Hal. It's obvious to anyone serious that Boone and Cashman need to go. There needs to be a full organizational house cleaning. This franchise is broken. The fact that they're above .500 couldn't be more deceiving.
Boone's BS never stops; New York Daily News | Gary Phillips: With the Yankees’ struggles continuing, it appears even they are starting to realize that can’t keep trumpeting the “championship-caliber” line, and that it’s just about time to put-up or shut-up. It was a frustrated team in the clubhouse after the terrible loss Sunday to Colorado, with Aaron Boone snapping “Save it with that question. We got two and a half months to put ourselves in a position to be championship-caliber. We got to go. It’s on us.” Tensions appear to be running higher, but at the same time, the players insist they remain upbeat. “If we just want to put our heads down and feel bad for ourselves, that’s never a key for success. So we’ll get on a plane, we’ll talk amongst each other, and it’s all good stuff” said Anthony Rizzo. Has anyone seen anything since the season began that would persuade anyone other than Boone and Cashman that this team is capable of turning things around and going to the PS and being a serious threat to win it all?
Judge being out hurts but unless you think 65 homers and 140 RBIs to carry the offense is normal there's no way they could think the roster going into this season was going to yield better results than 2022. Getting swept by the Astros last season should've been a major wake up call yet they did nothing to improve the offense or add debth. A bunch of spring training invite retreads and the ridiculous hope that Hicks and Donaldson would have good seasons.
Neither should have been acquired in the first place. ...Cashman became enamored with Hicks after his first season here and inexplicably gave Hicks a ridiculously inflated contract salary...and I don't have enough bandwidth to list his many other faux pas. ...Donaldson?...Cashman decided it would be a great idea to pick up his $43.5 Mil for his abysmal 2 years with the Yanx...luckily, the Yanx have a team option for next year with an $8 Mil buyout. Cashman had no GM experience/resume when he was given the job and has yet to bring another title to NY with a roster of his own design...Boone also had no managerial experience/resume but was also given the job.
And now you have a situation where just about everything is going wrong. The bullpen whether from overwork or what have you can't seem to get anyone out. Then there's the injuries where the back issue Rizzo talked about always going to be there to a degree has him completely useless at the plate. Over 40 games without a homer and a handful of RBIs.
