Man, I missed that you had a TKR! Glad you are doing better. Ive had two done in last 3 years and should have done 5 years earlier. I can actually jog some, but mostly bike, elliptical & walk on treadmill. Zero arthritic pain now in my knees. At 73 I now feel 63 or younger.
why Scoot Henderson's 21 minutes at summer league was so exciting One of Scoot Henderson's biggest fans, Sam Vecenie, talks about Scoot Henderson's 21 minutes in the summer league. He is with coach Adam Spinella. "There are NBA point guards that can't do that."
I'm super psyched to see how well this plays our. I'm not saying Nurk and Jeremy are gonna suddenly become Allstars because Scoot is passing to them. But I think there's a really good chance that their offensive output is better than last year because Scoot actually looks for other guys periodically.
I wonder where they’d rank Scoot among: Steph Dame Luka Shae Ja Kyrie Trae De’aron Jamal Tyrese Jalen Lamelo Jrue Tyrese
Here's a good 9-minute mix of Scoot scoring, passing and some defending. Nothing new of course, but it does include some summer league snippets with G-league highlights.
Some people "can" most people cannot. I say this as a former competitive marathon runner (2:54). Everyone reacts differently to the impact, but I would be interested if you could name an individual over 190 lbs that ran that much or jumped that much that had a long career with no cartilage issues. Every body type has a certain number of miles they can get away with in their lives, given their unique biomechanics. Anyone who starts accumulating those impact frequently at an early age is at higher risk of having problems in their prime.
I can and have some...but many mostly walk and other cardio. I was a runner in my younger years and basically wore my knees out with the help of genetics. Most O surgeons will tell you that running should be taboo as you could wear the new joints outs. Going to start playing pickle ball some as I know a few do with TKR's.
Agreed. Got a new hip a few years ago. Dr told me I can run but he wouldn't recommend it as it will notably lower the lifespan of the hip. He suggested biking, swimming or just walking but nothing that put such stress on an artificial joint. He specialized in Hips and Knees and said that applied to both. What you can do is different than what you should do. The replacements are no joke. Known two people who got infections after the surgery and had to have them removed and spent the better part of a year in a wheelchair (hipless) while they treated the infection and ensured it didn't return before they tried again. Ick!
I would take him over Kyrie. He’s an absolute nut job and a cancer. Much rather have Scoot, even as an unproven rookie.
Good, We are going to talk about knees. I didn't start playing soccer until I was 25 so maybe that helped, but I played into my early 50's before I quit just because I was worried about the long term damage to my knees and spine. 15 years ago my one knee got so bad I could not walk. Arthritis in one knee was rated "4" which is the worst rating and "3" in the other knee. I was given a hyaluronic acid injection which got me on my feet again but doesn't have a lasting effect. But somehow I leveled out. I take a joint compound that has your usual chondroitin and glucosamine and MSM, I also do isometric exercises that work the knees sideways. Also take turmeric. Walk regularly. I'm now 78 and just in the last year have begun jogging short distances, which was somewhat painful at first but now isn't at all. One reason I haven't thought about knee surgery is that two guys I know got blood clots during the surgery and one of them ended up dying.
You are absolutely right. I did not realize that. PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The state medical examiner says former Portland Trail Blazers player Jerome Kersey died from a blood clot that traveled from his left calf to his left lung. The announcement Thursday comes a day after Kersey died at 52. He had minor knee surgery Friday, but it could not be immediately determined if surgery caused the clot.
Look at how he keeps his defenders tied to his hip and then when they least expect it, he turns on the jets and creates separation. That is Chris Paul level stuff. Half the PGs in the nba right now don't have the strength/handle/smarts to manage that. Also, I need to find his floater efficiency with Ignite because if that's real, he's gonna be close to 20 ppg from day 1.
Sorry to hear the one guy that died from blood clot. I too to the synvisc ? injections for a few years then they didn't work. Ive always been a gym rat and worked my knee joints to keep strengthen and stretched. Worked for a while. Ive never been more pleased with my results and wish I had done earlier. Great to hear that you have been able to avoid surgery as the procedure is pretty ruthless.
As a player? Maybe. Sometimes you’d take a lesser player over a better one for various reasons though. Potential, salary, fit, etc. I wasn’t very clear though, I meant if they were building a team for the next 3-5 years.
