In total disagreement with what she had to say throughout this episode. But hey, that's OK. She made her points and wasn't trying to educate the audience. I can live with the way she explains it.
Trigger warning: It's Fentress and his stooge I listened so you don't have to: Fentress says multiple teams have reached out to be involved in the Blazers/Heat trade. They think we should just take Herro and three picks. They don't understand why we re-signed Thybulle. There's a lot of other stupid bullshit in between those three points.
You know how people say you've got a face for radio? Well, Highkin also has a voice for print media. I like his content and he does go to everything so he's pretty well plugged in. That's why I'm willing to pay for The Rose Garden Report to get all that good good content. But he looks and sounds bad. Also, anyone that does videos in this day and age has GOT TO have something related to their chosen material in the background. Highkin has a couple lame music posters on his wall. I'm not watching any of his video stuff until he significantly improves that background. Mike Richmond from locked on Blazers has got the best background in the business. His material isn't as good cause he puts stuff out every weekday and a lot of the time there isn't really 30 minutes worth of Blazers stuff to talk about that day. But that bookcase full of Blazers stuff behind him is awesome.
It’s so weird though how all these dudes do their podcasts with their backs against a wall. My desk is my work desk and it’s pushed against a wall. So there’s a lot of open space behind me.
Fentress is upset because he spent 2 years pumping up Trendon Watford's unbelievably high talent level, only to see the Blazers cut him just to save 400k in early summer salary.
Fentress seems more and more stressed out and anxious about the whole Dame thing, and it’s weird. it’d be easier to listen to if he was a bit more distanced and relaxed about it—and you’d think he would be since he’s been in the journalism game for a while.
He’d be easier to listen to if he actually was bringing something to the table. Probably why I’ve NEVER listened to him. Didn’t know you COULD listen to him to be honest.
Yeah there’s a wiff of ‘I haven’t really read into any of this, so everything Portland is doing doesn’t make sense, and is wildly perplexing. 1. Cronin is not just talking to the media at these pressers. He’s messaging to teams he’s in an active negotiation with. So think about that message for a second. Cronin saying ‘if it takes months, it takes months’ doesn’t mean they prefer it to take months, it means the value absolutely matters—which is sort of undebatable. 2. Cronin was pretty specific about what type of package he wanted: a star, or lots of picks and/or blue chip young players. And Miami’s opening offer has none of those things since Herro is wholly duplicative.
The podcast I really used to like was called shooting hoops with Dia Miller who used to be on the Blazers Edge podcast and Adam Drexler. But it's been months since they put anything out so I assume they're not doing it anymore.
last I heard Dia on a podcast was end of season recap. She was confused why the Blazers struggled last season. It sounded liked she didn't watch the games, but offered listeners her vast knowledgeable basketball mindset.
the Locked on Blazers guy was comparing this Blazers team with Memphis. "The Grizzlies are a young team and look good they are." Yes, imagine if the Blazers had a better coaching staff, hired bigger stronger players, and emphasized defense and rebounding.
Had the chance to meet her in LA at a game and gave her podcast a shot……yeah…… well let’s just say that was a letdown.
