No. There isn't really much point in going from Nurkic to Capela. Keep Nurk if we can't trade him for a year, unless we can get a young guy like Allen or Wiseman (for cheap).
I'd slightly lean to wanting Capela over Nurk and his deal will be an expiring next year so it would get us out of the final season of Nurk's deal. I'd make the swap, but I'm not giving up any picks or other assets to do it.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind shaving a year off of Nurks contract for capela. But agree I wouldn't want to add any assets, which likely kills any deal.
If Hawks had still been in the tax maybe they would've done that deal as it does save a few million in salary this season and next. From what I can tell they currently have 5-10 million under the tax so that probably isn't a concern at all right now. I think that franchise wants to see what Quin Snyder can do with a full season before they ship out any rotational players - unless its a talent upgrade or saves cash.
I'm gonna say Mavericks. I think Cuban wants a playoff team, and Luka & Kyrie can't do a damn thing on defense.
He would be helpful. However, he's not worth much to us as his presence wouldn't dramatically turn this team into a contender.
I think Capela, who was tied for 4th in rebounding last year, is an upgrade and I would not mind him being part of the 3-team trade for Dame. (for Herro) He is not one of my first few choices in that scenario, but we do need someone like him. Sure we can get rid of Nurk if we got him, but it would be nice to have two centers (+ Badji) when one gets hurt. I understand that 29 is too old for some of you, but we can worry about getting his replacement later.
But he’d be an extra target for Scoot to pass to. Also, whether or not we are contender, the culture must change defensively. We can’t continue to be bottom 5 in D and Capela is a rim protector.
You mean who would we give up for him? Miami filler. Herro would be my guess. Atlanta is a tough one to gauge though. Not sure what they think they need.
He might help Scoot's pick and roll development. He's a top 5 pick n roll finisher in the league, and that skill will pay dividends for us in the long run. Jerami definitely isn't doing that.
