That's exactly how you get shortchanged. There's a difference between being a willing seller and a reluctant one. All things being equal, we would be thrilled to keep Dame. We'd figure out how to get minutes for everyone in the backcourt. Miami is the one who wants Dame more than we want to be rid of him. The minute we say what we want, we have anchored the maximum we will get for him. Time is on our side. We have the luxury of sucking.
I want Orlando Robinson. He can be traded in September. He had a fantastic summer league. He's on a stupid cheap contract. We should wait until he can be traded.
Because it's never "That's our price and we're sticking to it." It becomes a game of seeing how low they can knock us off of our asking price.
Minny is in a pickle regarding their big men (Gobert, Reid and Towns) and KAT is the odd man out. Also, that KAT contract is an albatross. They're going to have to pay to rid themselves of it. They need to rebalance their roster almost as much as we need to do. I could see them playing a role as a facilitator in any trade.
Miami: "Oh, you don't want Herro because he's an overpaid piece of s***? I'll tell you what, we'll give you an even bigger overpaid piece of s***. What do you say?" How these people have overcome their own sense of shame when it comes to attaching their names/brands to these tweets is beyond me.
Let's be honest, I think there's a huge overlap between M'eat and F'L*aker "fans". Casual, fairweather, and fickle.
Oh, dear. You do realize there's a fan on another board raving about Michael Devoe and talking about his amazing summer league, right?
Again.... he's an asset. If we end up having to deal with them, I want everything they have. I'm not saying he's a star.
We're not. If we HAVE to deal with Miami, I want everything not nailed down. Jovic, Jaquez, Martin, and I think we should wait for Robinson. Are any of them stars? No, but I think at least Robinson could be a rotation backup center. I'm not convinced that Jovic or Jaquez are even good enough to get minutes on our crappy rebuilding team.
Orlando is a interesting prospect but if he was so good then the Heat would lock him up long term ( 2 to 3 yr ) deal for a reasonable amount the fact they have not should say something. I am not saying he might not be good or maybe just needs more then limited minutes that the Heat would give him but for every Hassan Whiteside story someone who stuck out early then blossomed there are the Harry Giles that never really make it even though they show flashes.
They signed him before Summer League and then he had a really good summer league. I suspect if he was still a free agent after summer league, dude would have gotten more money.
but let's be real it was summer league -- again not saying he might not be a solid pick up just urging people not to read too much into SL play. He was released 3 times last year by the Heat and NO ONE picked him up now maybe they tried and he knew they would come back around and he told other teams thanks but no thanks but still we have no idea.
Not until December 15th. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/miami-heat/orlando-robinson-78309/ He's not a rookie (nor did he sign a rookie scale contract), so his contract is restricted from being traded until December.
Replying here so I don't derail the roster thread; Gosh if we can't even get Herro in the trade..... I mean yeah we would have too many guards but I still think its much better to have him than Lowry expiring;
Yeah lets say we get Herro instead of Lowry; Scoot Sharpe Ant Thybulle Herro Martin Grant Murray Walker Nurk Jovic Can't see how that lineup makes sense. Who knows, only constant we've had from Cronin taking over as well as his time under Neil is always have more GUARDS than are needed. Even if we wanted to do a deal straight up with Miami we basically have to get a 3rd team involved just to match salaries up and keep them out of the 2nd apron.
