I can't imagine something that complicated happening, but 3 picks, control of our own pick from CHI, plus Claxton, Jovic and a reclamation on Simmons is palatable.
This trade gets us for unprotected future firsts. It gives the draft rights to Clowney and Whitehead. I also gives us a chance to try Ben Simmons out at starting C. This trade gives Brooklyn a rotation of Dame, Bridges, Johnson, DFS, Claxton, Nurk, Dinwiddie, O'Neal and Walker still not having used their MLE which would be the TPMLE but given that roster, you'd have to think they could get someone good with it. They also get to move off of Simmons.
so...you are trading Dame along with, in the case of this trade, the negative value contract of Nurkic (from the Net's POV)....and the Blazers essentially get back 6 first round picks, 4 of them unprotected never....gonna....happen
Brooklyn is the Occam's Razor of trades. Nurkic goes into the TPE of Brooklyn. Portland receives a $16,875,000 TPE (to go with their $8+ million TPE). Lillard = Dinwiddie ($20,357,143 expiring contract) + Claxton + Clowney + ask for 3 or 4 picks, get 2+. In one trade, Blazers reduce the team salary by $29,443421. If Brooklyn wants to send Royce O'Neal and his expiring $9.5 million to stay away from too much tax, fine. Blazers get Claxton -- a starting, younger, athletic center (with his Bird Rights for UFA next summer) and a nice rookie PF in Clowney along with picks, TPE, and a lower team salary that is more properly structured moving forward. Nothing comes back that doesn't fit or that isn't gone in a year. Brooklyn has Nurkic, Simmons, CamJohnson, DFS, Bridges, Lillard -- they become a contender in the East. [Use of Spotrac salary information and Realgm trade checker. It works.]
Brooklyn is my ideal trade partner. So many assets. So many possibilities. Love the BlazerKor and HoopsfanAz trades. Brooklyn is the one 100%.
I would take a flier on Simmons but it doesn’t seem like BKN is into Dame, no rumblings. Simmons is the physical ideal of what the team needs. I think he will be all nba again soon enough.
Brooklyn might be waiting to see what happens with Miami and hoping Dame will want to play for them. I think Brooklyn should want Dame if they can have core of Dame, Bridges and Claxton that's a potent combination in the Eastern Conference. Also, Brooklyn would still have a lot of assets to acquire more talent, and they have the ability to actually entice free agents especially if they add Dame. It really depends on if they want the slow and steady approach or to make a move in the new Parity NBA. I'd make a move if I were them to take advantage of the relative parity. That said, I'm sure my judgement is clouded by what it would mean for us. I feel they are the ideal trade partner for us and I always have. Dame also expressed interest at one point as he is friends with Bridges.
Nets GM Sean Marks looked really happy signing Trendon Watford. Setting the stage for stealth tank. I doubt they will go flat earth mode just to dump Ben Simmons on Portland.
Geesh, the Nets can't tank. There goes my theory. Oh well, I guess Brooklyn will be forced to try & play winning basketball. BORING
