I will find another reason then. My girlfriend is already convinced by a road trip Vegas - Yellowstone - Portland. Just need to find a good timing
If we wouldn't trade Shae or Scoot to improve the team and keep Dame, why would we do it now? You think we're going to contend without Dame? What???
Yes really. If someone (not named Joe) was willing to bet me $1000 on whether or not Scoot was going to be traded this summer I would willingly take the bet that he would not be traded, and I would not worry in the slightest about losing that bet. No one is untouchable so there is a chance, but the odds would be really small that Joe would trade Scoot. Mostly because it would take another team willing to give us a young superstar who is locked into a long contract. Not a lot of those are available.
What time frame are you suggesting? 7 years from now.....sure. Before the trade deadline......very unlikely.
Cronin made all the contending championship speeches. Cronin sent all the building around Lillard flyers out to Blazer fans. Lillard never said anything about winning a championship. The only thing Lillard said was he wanted a chance, wanted a competitive roster, and he was getting sick of being on a team with a bunch of immature teenagers making fart jokes all the time.
Actually Lillard Did say something about winning a championship; he said he wanted to do it here and said he wasn’t one who would force a trade to a super-team. Of course that was a couple of years ago before he got his supermax. NO did nothing to help Dame and Joe was left trying to, ideally, keep Dame happy but also to ensure the team has a future. Joe has already been maligned on this board for trades and I’m sure he had some trade options leading up to the draft but those likely would have led to more mediocrity with no future. Dame shot Joe in the foot when he said, in essence, trade the pick or else. When your superstar makes a threat, it weakens your position. I’m glad Joe didn’t trade the pick(s) for a middling deal. To believe Dame had no influence on any of the past decisions is willful ignorance. Dame sometimes talked of discussions with management. NO may have overvalued CJ, but I think Dame was complicit as well. Management/Vulcans are by no means clean in all this but neither is Dame. In the end, a fan favorite essentially turns on the team to which he continually claimed loyalty and shot them in the knee and then expects the team/fans to be happy trading him to a team for their detritus so he can be happy. Sorry, I am a Blazer fan and when Dame’s actions said “screw you Blazers”, those became my thoughts toward Dame. I don’t care where he goes, for the most part but there is a part of me that says anywhere but Miami. He burned his bridges; destroyed his reputation; offended many Blazer fans. I care not where he goes (mostly) only that we get maximum value for him.
3 weeks. Already made Atlanta (Sefolosha with the Hawks)-Nashville (bunch of hockey players)-Houston (Capela when a Rocket)-Vegas. A few miles don't scare me
Great, and our assets from trading him and sucking next year with yet another lottery pick will make us better
