It is always hard to believe anyone online or in the media. But the interviews he included seemed to be legit. Whenever someone leads with the words "Well it's complicated" then I automatically get suspicious. The bottom line though is I am glad the women are being taken care of.
If you knew anything about them outside of a click-bait Youtube channel you'd find they're a pretty easy team to get behind. They've done a lot for advancing women's sports worldwide over the years.
The most important thing is that all of this is available. The court documents are available. US Soccer has receipts. They proved that they actually paid more money to the women since the new CBA was agreed upon. This is all facts.
I actually really liked the women's international team, but the crusade they have been on has really put me off. Not much different than how I feel about Dame right now.
It's a necessary crusade. How much they made during the short Covid shutdown aside, there's probably a good reason the USSF finally agreed to pay tens of millions of dollars in back pay owed to female players, don't you think? They've had to fight for a lot of other factors other than straight up money - venue selection, charter flights for travel, the amount of support staff, hotel accommodations, etc. For you to be turned off by people fighting for those sorts of thing tells me more about you than anything else.
Can someone explain to me why of all the players, Sophia Smith who scored 2 goals in the first game, was the one taken out of the game? For Megan Rapinoe. As a casual fan, my reaction was, why her?
