Open up a 3 team deal, with Dame and Nurk going to CLE, Garland to TOR, and Allen and OG to Portland. And they can both dump some salaries they don’t want on us (Rubio, Young, Porter?).
And we’d have to probably hand over some picks to CLE to balance out value. would Dame + DM work at all? I didn’t pay attention to see how Garland and DM fared.
I actually really like that idea. Don't know if picks would be needed--it actually seems pretty well-balanced.
It isn’t a stagnant situation, there are likely teams that want to make an offer but don’t because they know Dame would be unhappy/demand a trade. however, if dame isn’t traded, he may want out enough to put 3,4,5… more teams on his list than just Miami. If Dame is squeezed and sees his last few high output years being squandered because of his demand to be traded to 1 team, he may relent. If Dame eases up on the 1 team push, then bargaining can start and maybe Miami or one of the other bidders will reach a more equitable agreement with the Blazers.
Yes. The best time to sell is at the trade deadline when nearly every team feels like they want to be buyers.
Just ONE of the team's younger players, huh. Well I want whichever one they least want to give up, probably Jaquez Jr.
I have no idea what the source of this is because of the weird way you posted it but if we've said come with your best offer then they will offer what they think is a starting point to negotiations. Obviously when we say "best offer" it's the same as us saying you've only made laughable offers that we can't even counter to this point. The Heat have to know that if it's four FRPs it will have to come with Jovic, Jaquez and expirings. I think even if we were willing to take less than that the league might veto a worse trade than that at this point.
I don't even think that deal has been offered. I think they've offered two firsts from them, Herro to a third team for another and sticking us with Duncan Robinson. I think if they made the offer that @Rastapopoulos has posted an anonymous quote about then that would get the ball rolling on counter offers from us but I think to this point there offers have been so much lower than even this deal that Joe hasn't seen a point in countering.
Yup. Windy just reported that Miami is the only offer and they know it. So I think they have been lowballing this entire time.
But if we're willing to keep Dame (which we are) it will start fucking up their season as soon as training camp starts. I also don't think Dame wants to report for training camp here and we all know he doesn't want to lose money. So as training camp approaches Dame will put more teams on his list, instruct Goodwin to get him anywhere but here, other offers will start coming in and Dame will either end up on some team not offering anything right now or Miami for a much better offer than we've heard from them to this point. Obviously I could be wrong either way: we could keep Dame until the trade deadline or a good deal from Miami or another team could come together tomorrow. It just seems to me like Miami right before training camp is most likely.
If this drags into training camp, we will be faced with a tough decision of playing Dame or not playing Dame. If we play him and he gets hurt, we're sunk.
The question for me is how low are they balling. I am fine with just JJjr and Jovic (and a couple of picks) as long as they can find us a starter in return for Herro and Duncan Robinson. For example, Simmons/JJ/Jovic and 2 picks is doable. Hell, I would even give Brooklyn one of the picks to get Simmons. Add a FA center and we are young and competitive
the NBA official memo stated clearly, that Lillard would do his best for any team that traded for him ... ... right ?? where's all the teams lining up to get Lillard ? anything, anyone, anywhere ? It's absolute crickets
I think the spectre of discomfort cast upon the idea of dame at media day and training camp is way overblown. it'll be a hotly discussed thing for a couple of days and then, like everything else, people will get tired of talking about it and move on.
rosters are set and the toothpaste is out of the tube. market needs to change before anything materializes, imo.
The NBA is on vacation. Nothing will likely happen for at least another 2-3 weeks including teams showing interest.
