Yeah, they need to do something big, they feel like they’re treading water. And they lost Fred. They can’t just roll out this same group again and again. Take a shot with Dame without giving up a load of picks and they can reboot after the Dame/Siakam window.

At this point you look to send Nurk and a couple players to Phoenix for Ayton, or Cleveland for Allen.

Its a Trailblazer pipe dream to think there is any chance of that happening. While dreaming is great, I'm more into more reality based discussions. He's the last asset they'd part with

Maybe. But they finished at .500 last season, missed the playoffs, and all their talent is in their forwards. They’re going to be mediocre or worse again this season with their downgrade at PG. Where do they go from here? They have a rare opportunity to add an amazing scorer and leader to balance out their roster and have a chance to contend. Barnes is a huge price to pay, but might be worth it when the East is wide open.

I think Toronto would be a good trade partner. Let them keep Siakim and OG. Boucher and Precious would solidify our PF positon, and allow Grant to play SF, so we wouldn't have to play small ball. Gradey Dick was the #13 pick, so he's like a lotto pick. He can play SF and would fit in with Shape/Scoot. Have them throw in another 1st round pick as well, and this is a decent haul with no bad contracts.

Another 1RP wouldn't even be necessary. But it seems unlikely that Toronto would send over 6 players in exchange for Dame, which is what would be needed (to match salary) if Toronto is keeping Trent, OG, and Siakam.

Are you saying let them keep Barnes too? That would be a no-brainer for Toronto. Obviously, getting Barnes would be a no-brainer for us, but even if we didn't, I do think that Gradey Dick, Boucher, and Precious would still be better for Portland than what Miami is offering. Gradey's upside is huge IMO

Only way they could deal for Dame and keep Barnes/OG/Siakam is if they send Trent...but do we really want him?

No, but his contract is only one year. Trade him for a 2nd round pick.

Was in agreement with you until the Gradey comment. I think he'll be a bench player. That negative wingspan combined with his lack of explosion does not scream upside to me.

For salary, they need to do a combo of Barnes+Boucher/Trent + several filler players. Pretty challenging to balance out the money.

This is what I had read.....but now I see where it might be wrong: https://bleacherreport.com/articles...-fans-after-raptors-take-sg-in-2023-nba-draft

"Dick recorded a 40-inch vertical and a nearly seven-foot wingspan at the 2023 NBA Draft Combine. He named Indiana Pacers Hall of Famer Reggie Miller, one of the best shooters in NBA history, as one of his inspirations.

With shooting potential like that, Raptors fans will hope Dick will soon be making NBA headlines for more reasons than his sparkling sartorial choices"

    Boucher/Barnes/Young/Porter/Dick/Achiuwa for Dame/Keon barely works.
If Trent is added, Barnes/Porter/Dick can all be removed.

I think everyone would want Barnes.

I just don't understand folks that hate OG coming back if its the best offer on the table for us? Give us OG, picks, Grady etc. Only if OG will sign an extension with us. I do not care if we have to overpay a little to do so as we will have scoot and Sharpe on cheap deals.

That's a better offer than anything Miami is giving us.

That is a big if and I doubt he would commit to it before the trade. But having said that, I agree that it is still better than what Miami is offering.

Agreed, but we can ask him what he is thinking, what he would want $$$ wise, what he is looking for, if he is open to staying. If it doesn't work out, flip him at the deadline for assets. OG is gonna get you more back than Herro, IMO.

Or if they preferred to keep Boucher over Trent, then we could take a Barnes/Trent combo back, and move Trent or Ant later.

When did Mark Jackson say that? Could it have been in 2015, after the Warriors won their first title?
