No. It would be just fine with me. Unfortunately they have their work cut out for them. Orioles, Rays, Blue Jays, Rangers, and Astros all ahead of them. They aren't catching the Orioles or Rangers. Astros have 4 games on them. Twins are leading their division by 4.5 games. Good part is they are a league leading 9-1 over the last 10 games. I'm trying to keep an eye on them without getting my hopes up. As it gets closer to September I will start allowing myself to follow the team again if they are still in the mix? It sure would be nice if Portland had it's own team but that is another thread.
Rangers and Astros don't mean anything. We just need to get ahead of one team. 2 weeks ago we had to jump 4 teams. Now just one. Not worried about the division.
Losing Sewald hurts. Munoz just hasn't been the same since his injury, yet(??). TOR is winning too so they have to hit a slump
Yeah Rangers and Astros do take spots and yeah there are only two wild card positions. Let’s see where they are beginning of September.
Top 3 (one from each division), 3 wild card (from any division). #1 wild card and #2 wild card face off, and the worst record between the division winners plays the #3 wild card team. Higher seeded team gets ALL home games. And it's a best of 3, thank god. Fuck those one game playoffs.
Mlb season is an ultra marathon. Mariners in a good spot. Starting rotation is top tier and healthy. Knock on wood.
It's the same people who talked shit about Dame every game where he didn't meet their unrealistic expectations.
Half game out. We leapfrogged 3 teams in 2 weeks. Cade Marlowe has been huge during this. Been loving watching him play. Big dumper doing big things. This is what we were thinking it was gonna be like all year. Maybe it's kelenic? (I kid, I kid, he is one of the reasons we're even in a position still to make playoffs when everyone else sucked)
They have also stranded a lot of runners on base. Had they brought some of those in opponents could have well gone to position players on the mound.
The call ups this year have been HUGE. It'll be interesting to see when/if they start shutting down some of the rookie pitchers.
Been a little better as of late but I know routinely they were atrocious with RISP. But apparently we are 2nd in the league with the bases loaded? Fooled me!
Anyone else love the way Kirby packs in the forkball grip on every pitch? I love that kind of stuff; dunno why. He is pretty much at "Ace" status.
Our pitching rotation is just unfair lol. I wouldn't be surprised though if Hancock gets two more starts. But by September, it'll be Castillo/Gilbert/Kirby/Miller (I already trust miller lol). But honestly Castillo/Gilbert/Kirby in the playoffs is more than enough. That gets my Mariners pants tight!
