Next season will be Batum's 16th in the NBA. Kind of hard to believe.

according to BBREF, at the end of next season, Batum will have earned 198.5M in those 16 seasons. Nice work if you can get it
trade?
Nassir Little + 2nd rounder for Batum-shaka-laka?

Cost of doing business as a percentage of gross sales/income?
Vulcans are driven by this consideration Im sure.
To go young with talent with a lower cost factor, and still create Fandom and ticket sales, is total business since.

by the time Dame's 63M salary rolls around in 2026, it might not even be in the top-20
By the time Dame turns 36 in 2026, he likely won't even be a top-40 player in the league, so he definitely wouldn't be worthy of a top-20 salary.

Dame at 54M/year ending when he's 36; or Siakam at 62M year ending when he's 35?

by the way, Curry is 35...is his game going to collapse next season?

Curry is on a different level than Dame is, and always has been. Not really interested in comparing the two.

Don't look at Dame making $63M at age 36 and compare is to Player X making $Y at age Z

Look at Dame making ~$53M/yr for 4 years at age 33, 34, 35, 36

vs Siakam making $62M/yr for 5 years at age 30, 31, 32, 33, 34

The difference between Dame and Steph is not that big also what if you switched them -- Steph in Portland and Dame with the Warriors would we really be saying this cause you have to think having Klay , Draymond etc helped keep Steph open with those other two on the floor not to mention the system. I am not saying Dame is better then Steph just saying the difference might not be that big and one could argue maybe around the same but I guess we will never know since we do not have a time machine.

wut?

where was it I said that Dame was equal to Curry in talent? I didn't

what I did say, in response to your assertion that Dame will fade dramatically as a player by age 36, is point out that Curry is 35. Chris Paul was pretty good at 36. Lebron will turn 39 next season. Brook Lopez had one of his best seasons ever at 35. Durant turns 35 next month. Players are aging better now than they ever have

I saw a lot of people in this forum claim, last summer, Dame was already on his age down-slope and that his surgery would accelerate that. Yet he had his best season...at 32. What if he matches that at 33? I expect he will start losing some athleticism and speed. But to go from top-10 (arguably) to not even top-40 in 4 seasons is a dramatic drop

just a fyi, but if Siakam gets that deal, he'll be making close to 70M in the final year

Why wouldn't you compare how the two will age just because Steph is better??? That makes no fucking sense. They both rely heavily on their shooting range to set up the rest of their game. That approach ages well. We know Dame has a serious commitment to taking care of his body. Dame's frame is more durable than Steph's and Dame has been more durable during his career than Steph had been to this point in his.

No one was trying to compare their level of play at their peak but it's completely understandable to look at how Steph's game has aged and think that Dame's game will age similarly since they rely on the same skillsets and are both dedicated year round to improving. I mean I guess we'll have to wait and see but it's more than reasonable to point at the way Steph's game has aged and say that Dame's game will age in a very similar way even though Steph is the better player.

This is the part with which I disagree, and is the reason I wouldn't look to how Steph has aged to project how Dame will. Personal opinion, and I understand how some will feel otherwise.

I dunno. You mentioned 36-yo Chris Paul; I personally don't believe he was a top-40 player last year. Dame in 3 years being on Paul's level now feels pretty reasonable to me.

he was 37 last year

I think CP3's game is different than Dame's. Dame is more like Curry

now, you might be able to argue that Dame has essentially created his own offense while Curry has had the team create a lot of his offense. Dame's ISO ability might drop faster than Curry's off-ball ability. That makes some sense but Dame has essentially been forced to create his own offense because the Portland GM(s) have done such a shitty job giving Dame teammates with play-making ability. If Dame was on a team with real play-makers (Butler, Bam?) I think his game would age very well

Looks like $100 bucks for league pass again.
