The Ravens announced Thursday that they will kick off their 2006 training camp on Sunday, July 30.For the 11th-consecutive season, the team will travel to McDaniel College in Westminster, Md. for the late-summer session. The small, private liberal arts college has an enrollment of 1,500 students. The two practice fields and McDaniel's Bair Stadium are the perfect size for the Ravens' expanded roster and purple-and-black-clad fans. It is located only 30 minutes from the Ravens' Owings Mills practice facility and 50 minutes from downtown Baltimore. The camp will have four preseason games peppered throughout to provide enough exposure for the Ravens' coaching staff to trim the roster down to the mandated 53 players. One difference at this year's camp came as part of the rule changes at last month's NFL owners meetings. Now, the first training-camp roster reduction this summer will be to 75 players, where teams were previously allowed to keep only 65, plus any player who played in NFL Europe for the cut after the third preseason game.
