Bill Simmons is a half a notch above Stephen A. Smith so his opinion is crap and should be treated as such ...... NEXT
Bill Simmons just messed up his mojo with Blazer fans. Rebuilding teams need picks. Lillard for Towns is basically trolling.
I'm getting fairly concerned about the status of things. I personally don't think Dame's value is going to go up as he ages. I'm not sure how much value he actually has. How many teams even make sense to trade for Dame? The market is pretty small. Getting SOME value for Dame is better than getting NO value for Dame. I'm concerned that the Blazers think they can just wait Dame out and keep him, which would be pretty stupid.
I think MN would be an ideal destination for Lillard and it would make them a contender. Denver claimed MN was their toughest opponent in the playoffs and MN had two key pieces missing at that time, Mc Daniels and I think Reid, .Would like to see Towns routed to another team and MN also give us a couple FRP's.
Towns might actually fit well in Miami. What if they gave us everything we have wanted for Lillard and then we still got two FRP's from MN?
I don't see how they would have enough outgoing salary to make a deal work without including Bam or Butler.
I believe it's a proposed 3 way deal, Lillard to MN, Towns to Miami. Miami can send Lowry and Jovic and be able to match Towns' salary.
I don’t love any version of a Miami trade, but I do think Lowry would be a great fit as a rookie year mentor to Scoot.
I read today that Miami is trying to work a trade without Herro in the deal...they want to keep him which would mean they are trying to replace him in the deal since we don't want him. I don't see them doing it without another team in the mix.
I guess they could sell it as "Today's shit burger...now with absolutely nothing nutritious and even more shit."
Who is arguing to 'keep him'? I don't see anyone making that argument. Having said that, there is no reason to rush to trade him. The offers in December or January will not be any worse for Portland - but could potentially be significantly better than what Miami has.
Joe Cronin might be making that argument..... or Jody.... or Bert. We don't know how the inner-circle feels about Dame..... and all the money he brings in. I don't see how there could be significantly more options in January. How many teams are competitive enough to value Dame while also having assets, needing a point guard, and willing to pay a 33 year old that much money? The list is pretty short.
That’s why I suggested that maybe we can trade Dame to Miami, Harden to Chicago, Hero to Philadelphia and us getting LeVine. I know more would have to go into the trade but maybe LeVine might have more value at trade deadline? Or maybe LeVine might actually work well with Scoot and we can get value back for Simons?
Why is keeping Dame stupid? Dame is playing at the highest level of his career. I don't see why Dame's value has to go UP. He's one of the best point guards in the league. Would it make more sense to keep Dame if he were 25 years old with a True Shooting % of 56% not knowing if that would improve? Myself, I would take 33-year-old Dame for 3-4 more years over 25-year-old Dame.
Here's Fred Van Vleet. Some team paid 6' 1" Van Vleet this much for that much efficiency. The only people that matter are the GMs of NBA teams. It doesn't matter what your or I think or predict could happen. Pretty sure Zero people predicted this signing at that amount. https://www.si.com/nba/raptors/news...-vanvleet-opt-out-of-contract-hit-free-agency "Toronto can sign VanVleet up to a max contract of nearly $40 million per season over five years. He is unlikely to get a deal that high and is projected to get something in the neighborhood of $28 to $30 million per season over three or four years."
at 28m, Kyle Lowry set some sort of vet PG low bar. Is Vanfleet 15m better then Lowry ? If that answer is yes, then cut the check.
He asked for a trade. He’s 33 and most of our team is young. We just drafted a great young point guard prospect. He’s being paid a ton of money. We are rebuilding. He asked for a trade. He’s 33 and he’s going to start to decline and his value will decline with him. We could use the assets that we get from him to help our rebuild. Playing him will hurt the development of Scoot. Playing him will hurt our draft position during a rebuild. He asked for a trade.
