I voted "like him less," but it really has less to do with the trade request in and of itself. As a blazer fan first and foremost, anytime a player leaves the Blazers I will always care less about his future performance and achievements elsewhere, regardless of how they leave. This is true even for the most beloved of blazers who moved on. Secondly, whether justified or not, I think the way the trade request was handled left me disappointed. So, while I will inevitably look back fondly on Dame's time in Portland, I think it's fair to say I'm less of a fan of him now than I was 5 months ago.
Nope. He's been a great player and a great ambassador for Portland. We're just in different places now.
Some of the people who have taken this the hardest were his biggest fans. They truly believed his bullshit about being loyal forever. I'm personally not particularly bothered by the whole thing. I think sometimes it's time to go your separate ways. But you seem to be particularly bothered by it all.
I voted no longer a fan. Not due to trade request, but due to One Team only, AND Goodwin poisoning the well with the rest of the NBA, AND Dame sticking by Goodwin.
Exactly correct. I sent my son to his camp and treasured the photo of the two of them. I even gave my ex-wife a hall pass for Dame IF and only IF he got her pregnant with a son so I could raise an NBA superstar son. I mean that was a mostly a joke between the two of us, but I sorta, kinda meant it. Dame was my all time favorite Blazer until this debacle. If he hadn't been trying to screw us into Miami for trash in return, I would have wanted him to go...to MIAMI! Now I'm angry at him, very, VERY angry.
So, when Dame starts at pg first regular season game as a blazer, will you that like him less boo your asses off!
I have no issue with him requesting a trade. Our front office failed him and he has every right to request a trade to whoever he wants to go to. Portland also has every right to find the best deal. Also have no issue with Dame's agent doing his job and trying to get Dame to his preferred destination.
it's about dam(e) time Lillard asked out. The Blazers get creamed out there. Great for lottery picks, torturous for iconic NBA superstar who competes for victory.
I was never a fan. Thought he was a very good player, and therefore happy to have him on the team, but he never gave me the warm fuzzies personally. barfo
