Nate that is one of your dumbest takes yet and the reason Dame has not been traded yet is Cronin has screwed this up so bad that he is slowly becoming heck maybe he already is a laughing stock of a GM in NBA circles. This whole Dame situation is what backs up my argument that they lied to Dame cause IF they would have had a plan to phase Dame out after landing Scoot this would all be a mute point but it's not. Instead we are in the middle of a complete cluster fire that Joe and Vulcan has created just because it could not shoot straight with Dame. This is the truth like it or not this is it and IF you want to be a dumb ass lemming of a fan who believes the BS this front office shovels out go for it but just know your the one who is going to be made to look like a clown not me or others who know the real deal of it all. ---
There's two scenarios here: Cronin didn't tell Dame he'd trade him where he wants to go and Dame understands the business side of it despite being unhappy. Cronin did tell Dame he'd trade him where he wants to go and is going back on his word, which would piss Dame off.
Everything the Portland Trailblazers owes Dame is outlined in his player contract. Beyond that they can hypothesize about what each party would like to see as a roster, but Joe Cronin will always do what is best for the organization, period. Dame knows this but is not saying he knows this. Same for Goodwin. For the life of me I can not understand where anyone can say Joe/Vulcan/Blazers lied to Dame. The contract precludes that possibility. And again, everyone knows Joe best do what is best for the organization, always, unless instructed by Jody otherwise. If Dame wanted control over roster decisions he should have negotiated that into his contract. Seems he did not.
Nate do not even try and back track on me -- you put a question mark on the end but your not really asking a question more stating that you think that could be the case and wondering if others believe as you do. Do not try and pull that BS with me and own your own opinion. I can admit when I am wrong and such but some cannot so look in the mirror and you might just see one yourself but maybe I am wrong but i doubt it at least on this one.
Dame needs to show he's still that guy? He literally showed he's still that guy and more. Best career year. How is he going to play his way into more trade value at this point?
LOL "One thing that might be hurting his value is that the guy hasn't played much in the past two years." Yeah, I really took firm position on this "hot take." If I had said that Dame's injuries for the past two seasons ARE hurting his value, that would be a hot take.
exactly, I'm perplexed at Marang's latest input. Like I said previously, does Lillard have to become hands down the best player in the NBA before the Blazers finally let him go? It's not rational thinking, I don't want to be mean, but it sounds like pure insanity.
We've broken down so many variables why teams either can't, or dont want to trade for Lillard. Damian plays a specific position, Point Guard. A lot of teams already have an awesome PG. Cronin signed Lillard to a supermax extension. Many teams do not have cap room. Damian is a winner. Rebuilding teams like Portland aren't going to relinquish future picks to acquire Lillard and accidentally win a bunch of games. Really good teams have burned up most their future assets to build a winner. Any Dame trade to a good team will not net much return. Looking for a Rudy Gobert 6 pick trade from a mediocre team is pointless. Only Minnesota is dumb enough to pull off one of the most idiotic trades in history. oh... and Lillard went public with "Miami only" Implying Dame needs to grab that Blazer jersey and continue playing perfectly healthy MVP level ball. That skips completely over what everyone saw last season. . Highly efficient 50, 60, 71 point games isnt enough? We aint trading Lillard until he drops 100?
Cronin could have told Dame he'd trade him where he wants but now there is a big misunderstanding of the specifics of that statement. Dame might think he gets to go wherever he wants. Cronin may think the Blazers are entitled to a similar talent return. Maybe one party is at fault or maybe both are or maybe neither are. This is why there are contracts for these things. Verbal casual agreements are not enforceable for a reason.
Nathan Bishop is trying to paint a picture that if we take Miami’s shit offer it will because we had no choice so he can protect his boy Cronin. Bad take there Nathan
He said he has a lot of love and respect for the blazers but doesnt want to talk about the blazers. I can respect that. I do want to hear how he feels about either A) Only choosing Miami or B) Why he never stopped his agent from only saying Miami. One if not both are true and thats what I want to know because thats my beef with Dame. Not the trade request, but the reason he is so adamant on one team.
Its mis-communication. I'm sure Cronin told Dame that if it ever came to it, that Cronin would help Dame get to where he wanted to be. That comes with a caveat of 'assuming the return is reasonable'. From the CJ and Hart trades, Cronin helped both players get to a good situation. I think with both players, there were 2-3 trade possibilities on the table (based on subsequent reports and comments). Cronin was able to say to both, "Do you want to go to A or B teams?" I'm sure Cronin envisioned a similar approach, where he gave Dame 3 options to choose from. Dame assumed that he could 'pick his team'.
