Lets be realistic, Dame is going to Miami, if you really respect him and you do (you mourn him) you'll grant him his wish. The question is, what can we get for Herro, if we flip him for two young promising players in area of need, plus the rest of the package from Miami, I would consider it a fair deal
It’s on the Heat to find a team that will give a package sufficient to our liking. We don’t have to move Dame right away, and the Heat only get worse by waiting. Two promising young players seems like it would be too much to be optimistic about imo.
Joe isn't losing his job over Dame getting his "Wish" for a subpar return and shitty Miami picks. Miami and Goodwin need to get off their asses and find another or multiple teams to fatten the pot for a player on Dame's level...what is on the table now I would trade Ant and Nas for but not Dame. Dame also needs to respect that thing called a "no trade clause" and that 4 year contract extension if we're talking respect here. If Dame had one year left on his deal, sure...you let him go or walk for nothing...this situation is not that.
1. They also get rid of Fournier 2. The owner is still Dolan, right? 3. Brunson is looking pretty bad post FIBA.
This is a false narrative. I respect what he has done for the franchise, but he's been well remunerated for it, and it doesn't grant him the right to fuck over the franchise going forward.
Come on man, Ya'll act like your girlfriend just left you for another man. When Sheed wanted out we traded him for whatever, when Pippen asked for a trade they sent him to us for bench players. No one is trading for Dame when he doesn't want to be there and we holding on to him is making us look bad around the league. Move on from him, Ant and Scoot could be the best young combo at guard behind maybe Giddey/Shai. they're both young. they compliment each other, Scoot is a good defender and while Ant isn't, he isn't as bad as Dame who's maybe the worst defender in the entire league. Aren't you fed up with watching him hiding on defense only to then launch a logo shot with 5 seconds into the shot clock? That's not basketball. Basketball is about a team, not one player, and when one player puts himself above the team (not sure he wasn't behind some managerial decisions we've made, like trading Hart) you're better off without him. The thing is on one hand you act as if he's the center of your world, on the other hand you say he's a douche bag for wanting out. Get over it
Agree to disagree. (And if Sheed really wanted to go to Atlanta, how did he feel after they traded him after playing exactly one game for them?) "Making us look bad around the league" - ooh (clutches pearls)
Thanks for the thought Pat. Please don't tell us what to feel. WTF does respecting a complete stranger have to do with anything? Like Dame would respect me? I want one thing: POR to be better.
What the hell are you talking about. Nobody's (or at least the vast majority arent) acting like their girlfriend just left, and very VERY few people say he's a douche bag for wanting out. You're clearly not a Blazers fan, and you haven't been around Blazers fans. Most still love Dame. Most hope the best for Dame. Nobody is hurt over this. What most people do want is for the TEAM that they've rooted for long before Dame got there, to do what's best for the franchise. Most here would be happy to see Dame go where he wants to go, if it were even somewhat fair for both sides. If he gave multiple teams for his list, there'd likely be ZERO backlash. The only pushback Blazers fans have given was the demand to one team only, and to a team with garbage for assets. Now go away and stop pretending to be a Blazers fan
His wish was to sign a Supermax contract and stay in Portland. His wish was to earn in excess of $400 million. We granted his wish. But here's the deal: You don't get to get the maximum amount of money AND the right to leave when and where to you want. It's either/or. The money means that you took money over flexibility. PERIOD. So, let's be realistic. He has no leverage. He's under contract for 4 years. He'll go wherever he's traded and Cronin will get the most he can.
Sheed never asked for a trade. And certainly not to Atlanta. He wanted to stay and we had actually just won 8 out of 10 with a Miles/ZBo/Sheed frontline. That trade pissed me off.
We got two All Stars in return for Sheed... that's a solid return. And I don't think Sheed requested a trade.
Watching Shareef play for us pissed me off even more. But I've got to say, watching Sheed's Pistons beat Shaq and Kobe in the finals made up for A LOT.
More than a few think he’s a douchebag for asking out for one team after signing a supermax with us. I’d say half the fan base agrees.
