...or his mother is from Bosnia and Herzegovina, of Bosniak origin. And in September 2020, Garza expressed his interest to represent the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team internationally. :dunno:

He literally says only a “handful” of players. I’m certain most players would have no problem with a woman coach. If anyone was disrespectful, they would simply be fined and/or suspended.

Do you know this by your extensive experience of driving NBA players around town?

There was a minor gun thing while back, everything was dropped.
When he was in Cleveland, he had some locker room issue that ultimately led to his trade to the Rockets.

I could see Miami trying to get Cam Payne. Right now the only PG they have listed on their roster is Lowry. I realize that they play Herro at both guard spots but Payne would be a good backup for Dame if they still think they'll get him.

The Lakers have DLo, they signed Gabe Vincent and they drafted Jalen Hood-Schifino who are all listed as PGs, they let Reeves run the point at times. Honestly just between DLo and Vincent I don't think Payne would see enough minutes for himself on the Lakers.

Forgot about DLo, though I like Payne better, especially for the money

Rockets' Kevin Porter Jr. charged with assault, strangulation

Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested and charged with assault and strangulation after an incident at a New York hotel Monday morning, a New York City police spokesperson said.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting an assault at 6:45 a.m. and arrested Porter, 23, after an investigation. Both charges are felonies.

The incident involved Porter's girlfriend, a former WNBA player, sources told ABC News.

"Upon arrival officers were informed that a 26-year-old female sustained a laceration to the right side of her face and was complaining about pain to her neck," the spokesperson said. "A preliminary investigation on scene determined that a known individual struck her multiple times upon her body and placed his hands around the neck."

The woman was transported to the hospital for evaluation, the police spokesperson said.

Kevin Porter Jr.’s troubled past well before locker room outburst with Cavs leading to Rockets trade

The writing was on the wall for Kevin Porter Jr.'s inevitable exit with the Cleveland Cavaliers following reports of his violent outburst inside the team's locker room earlier this week. The temperamental 20-year-old guard, who has not played in the 2020-21 season so far, was reportedly livid that the team gave out his old locker to new Cavs acquisition Taurean Prince (more on this later).

The Cavs ultimately decided that he is not worth the headache and gave up on the talented but volatile winger. In the event that they couldn't find a suitor, the Cavs were reportedly willing to release Porter from his contract just to be rid of him.

    Conduct issues with USC

Even before he stepped foot in the NBA, Kevin Porter Jr. was already making headlines for the wrong reasons. Back in January 2019, the USC Trojans elected to suspend the 6-foot-4 guard indefinitely and was barred to suit up in a game against Oregon. The USC brass refused to further delve into the matter, citing that Porter was sanctioned for “personal conduct issues.”

There were even reports that the program was strongly considering kicking Porter off the team due to his off-court behavior. Porter eventually finished his one-and-done stint with the Trojans and applied for the NBA.

    Car crash and gun charges

Less than a month after his cryptic (Instagram) message, Porter Jr. was involved in a scary single-car accident when he flipped his Mercedes SUV in an interstate southeast of Cleveland. Judging by the extensive damage to his car, Porter Jr. was extremely lucky to have come out unscathed from the accident.

While police believed he was not under the influence at the time of the incident, they did recover a loaded .45-caliber handgun and a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle.

The Mahoning County police charged the NBA player on a felony gun charge for improper handling of a firearm, marijuana possession, and misdemeanor charges of driving without a license. If convicted, KPJ could have faced possible prison time. Charges against Porter were eventually dropped, but he did admit fault for failure to control his car.

    Food throwing incident

The final straw that broke the camel's back was Kevin Porter Jr.'s confrontation with Cavs GM Koby Altman. By now, we all know how a simple locker gaffe turned ugly for the Cavs.

It's not like the team totally left Porter without a spot, as he was simply asked to move to the wall where the younger, bench players reside. He didn't appreciate that one bit, as he began cursing at the Cavs executive and even threw food at one point. The situation got so out of hand that KPJ was reportedly heard yelling “modern-day slavery” during his rampage.

Porter was actually set to make his debut for the Cavs this season after being told to spend time away from the team due to his off-court issues. That never materialized, as his time in Cleveland has officially come to a close. Hopefully, he can get his act together and start fresh in Houston.

I think Payne will get grabbed by Minnesota. They can't tank, must try to win, and they need outside shooting PG help.

Sources: NBA likely to pass tougher rules on resting stars

The NBA is expected to pass more stringent rules and punishments to limit the resting of star players for nationally televised and in-season tournament games and instances of multiple All-Stars sitting out individual regular-season games, sources told ESPN on Monday.

The NBA's competition committee recommended a plan that the league's board of governors is expected to approve Wednesday. It would ultimately give the league office authority for greater oversight over discipline for missed games and an ability to fine teams over $1 million for each instance of violating resting rules, sources said.

As the league negotiates a new media rights deal, NBA commissioner Adam Silver has been determined to increase player participation, and the league's goal is to strengthen the initial player resting policies that were adopted in the 2017-18 season and new rules that mandate players participate in 65 regular-season games to be eligible for postseason awards.

The NBA is defining a star player as someone who's made the All-Star or All-NBA teams in any of the three previous seasons, sources said.

The NBA will incorporate a fine system for teams that begins with $100,000 for first offenses, $250,000 for second offenses and $1 million more than the previous penalty for each additional fine, sources said.

A league memo obtained by ESPN about the changes describes these areas of the new policy. Enforcement of these policies will be based on league office investigations, which will include independent medical reviews, sources said.

    • Teams must manage their roster to ensure that no more than one star player is unavailable for the same game.

    • Teams must ensure that star players are available for national television and in-season tournament games.

    • Teams must maintain a balance between the number of one-game absences for a star player in home games and road games -- with a preference for those absences to happen in home games.

    • Teams must refrain from any long-term shutdown -- or near shutdown -- when a star player stops participating in games or plays in a materially reduced role in circumstances affecting the integrity of the game.

    • Teams must ensure that healthy players resting for a game are present and visible to fans.
The NBA will provide several scenarios for excused absences on missed games -- including those involving regular-season back-to-back scenarios, sources said. For example, the NBA will allow pre-approved designated back-to-back allowances for players who are 35 years old on opening night or have career workloads of 34,000 regular-season minutes or 1,000 regular-season/playoff games combined, sources said.
