Wow... these two sentences lead me to such wildly different conclusions. Is Cronin trying to take his thread the needle to the next level?
We still have the MLE available.... Kelly Oubre hasn't officially signed? Maybe he is the final piece to Dame saying all is forgiven and returns LMAO
games last year, Blazers were competitive for a little while. Now sometimes they lost by 20+ in a clear the bench blowout... but remember that one part in the 3rd they were only down by 8 ?? Competitive, competing, competitor, add some n's and a D = contender
Now you've done it. You're unleashing a whole new flood of speculation, anticipation and an endless stream of hypothetical trade ideas!
You've got this being-extremely-vague-so-you-look-accurate-no-matter-what thing figured out. Impressive.
That was with Hart who we lost for nothing. Blazers would need to add an All-NBA player to have even a long shot chance at contending. Probably have to trade away Scoot or Sharpe - maybe both.
We didn't lose Hart for nothing by any stretch...we got assets before he walked for "nothing" and he was going to walk. He comes off the bench for the Knicks and for team USA . His wife didn't want to be in Portland away from her family and he didn't either. I like the guy but understand why he's gone. Thybulle is a way better fit as a 3 and D guy and Knox shoots better and has more length.
So talks with the Heat have resumed as reported. At the same time we are considering keeping Dame and maybe adding Ayton? My guess is Nurkic and Ant and whatever filler if needed. Portland does it to get a younger Center not allergic to defense and to free up more guard minutes. Phoenix does it as a 2 for 1 because they potentially get a 6th man or starting PG in Ant as well as a decent if healthy Center in Nurkic.
The problem with Ant and Nurk for Ayton and filler is figuring out the filler. If the Suns are trying to add depth but they have to send out four guys that were going to be in their rotation just to get a legit sixth man and a downgrade at C, I don't really think that makes sense. Because the Suns are over the second apron they can't take on $1 of additional salary in a trade.
I'd guess with Ant, Nas, Nurk and maybe Keon and Badji you could throw in a pile of 2nd round picks..we got 5 of them from Golden State in the Payton trade...
This is a fundamental misunderstanding. They can't accept the salaries of Ant and Nurk for Ayton. Ayton makes 32.4M while Ant and Nurk make a combined 40.9M, 8.5M has to be sent back to us from Phoenix but they don't have that much in tradeable salaries because everyone outside of their big three and Ayton signed in the off season so they can't be traded and only three guys making a total of 4.9M are eligible to be traded. So you want to send them more salary?
yeah I was just throwing out a list of names I don't mind trading...however the money works, I put zero thought into but the Suns need a pt guard and a center...and no...I don't want to send any assets unnecessarily to the Suns.
I consider that return to be nothing in the terms of elevating last years roster to be an immediate win now contender with Dame.
