If the Bulls are willing to offer LaVine and picks/Williams... even if the Blazers have no direct interest at least it may open up some very good 3 way possibilities. I can see a 3rd team give up much more for LaVine than Herro.
Because it says we're committed to Ant as our SG (and thus playing Shae out of position at SF, and being shitty at defense and rebounding for the foreseeable future)
Kyle Neubeck of PHLY Sports says Bulls are trying to trade LaVine for a package of players and picks that would interest Portland.
Finding a destination for LaVine opens up a ton of trade possibilities that don't make sense in sending Dame out directly. LaVine to the Knicks with Brunson? That backcourt makes much more sense - Dame and Brunson are way too short but Brunson and LaVine are good. Knicks have a lot of picks plus Barrett and other players. They have defense but need more offensive star power. LaVine to the Nets for Simmons and two picks? Yes that could make sense. LaVine to Philly, Harden to LA, three picks to Portland plus the Chicago picks? That might make sense. LaVine to the Hornets to pair with the other Ball for a young center and picks? LaVine to the Spurs, Pelicans, Grizzlies, or Thunder? Yes any of those could have a deal work where a direct Dame deal does not. If Chicago is really serious about Lavine and something for Dame - we only need ONE team out there to be on board with the LaVine portion. I didn't realize until yesterday when researching that Chicago only has the one pick they owe to the Spurs. I had thought there was more from a Vucevic trade or Lonzo or something, but those must have all conveyed. Chicago could send the Blazers pick back to PDX, and the Blazers could send a pick to the Bulls that exactly matches the year the Bulls pick is sent to San Antonio. That would free up the Bulls to send 4 first round picks to the Blazers. So San Antonio actually doesn't have to be involved in the trade at all to free up Chicago picks, although it might be simpler to include them, but if they are holding firm on tough demands, the Blazers and Bulls aren't required to negotiate with them. So its very simple with the Spurs or without them to get more than enough draft equity from Chicago. Get err done JOE! and PS.... FUCK MIAMI
I would expect more from Brooklyn. It doesn’t look like what they’re giving up much at all for a legit AS SG. Simmons, Clowney, and the 2 1sts sounds like a more fair deal. If we got Ben, PWill, Clowney, and 3 1sts for Dame, I would feel ok about the return.
