I see Phoenix doing it if we can get them some guys that are playable and Nurk. The Suns need more talent so this might do it.
Dame hasn't made a single decision to screw over Blazer fans. I agree that would be a fair compromise but if Cronin doesn't care what Dame wants after telling Dame he'd work with him if it ever came to this, why wouldn't Dame try to force his way into what he wants?
I was looking at direct quotes of Cronin's while making that post in case anyone wanted to challenge it. Cronin Addresses Lillard Request, Free Agency | NBA.com Also, I'm talking about previous interactions that you probably didn't see because they didn't involve you.
Phoenix says no to taking back that extra salary so that they can duck the 2nd apron. Nurk + Martin still gets them under if my mental math is correct. Hopefully Miami could renegotiate protections with OKC on that 2025 1st. I could see us settling for only two 1sts because we get Ayton.
Deciding to publicly request a trade to one single team screws over Blazer fans... That's not even debatable.
If we get Lowry would he be eligible to be traded at the deadline for a 1st round pick or something to a team wanting an expiring contract?
He would be eligible to be traded in I believe 60 days so yes in November..... sure a team can legally offer a 1st round pick but I can't imagine he has any value close to that. More likely a 2nd or dead salary as part of a larger trade. edit as RR7 says yes immediately by himself he could be traded - but after 60 days he can be combined with other players in a trade.
Lowry is not Josh Hart, a very versatile and active player on a 12m contract. Lowry is a backup PG who's lost a step, and is on the final year of his once great player contract. Nobody would "give up" a 1st to take on Lowry's 29m remaining.
But he's not making that decision to screw you over. Blazer fans are collateral damage. But the return wouldn't have been much better anywhere else, so I think the "We're getting screwed" thing is overblown.
It would only be like 15 by then but I agree I think we'll get something at the deadline for Jerami but Lowry is likely going to be a buyout.
He stays on the Blazers roster until the deadline, might be part of a larger trade if some big salaries need to be matched up. But yeah if he's here after the deadline certainly there would be a buyout. I guess the only way not is if he has a great mentor relationship going with Scoot and just wants to stick around for the last months of the season as more of a veteran player coach, then take off for an early summer. Guy has done a lot of deep playoff runs and has a ring so might not have the same desires as other veteran buyout guys.
Intent doesn't matter, it screwed us over, and it was obviously always going to screw us over. Disagree with you on the return wouldn't have been much better. Disagree with you big time.
