Since I posted that it's come out Miami is out of the picture which I'm in favor of....I had read that Miami Suns Blazers were finalizing a 3 team trade and now it seems Miami has been absent from the table since summer league. Giannis and Embiid have maybe changed their attention span.
one time, my wife forgot my birthday I had to apologize for months for letting her forget my birthday. Logic. I won't make that mistake again
I'll never forget being in a failing marriage, and women were flirting with me right and left. Got a divorce, and I did not get a single flirt for one and a half years.
Plus, there are 9-10 days until training camp. That could motivate both Dame (to add to his list) and other teams to make offers, seeing that no deal has been made with Miami.
That's about how long it takes divorce cooties to wash off! Single folks can smell divorce cooties from miles away..and they usually know she got all your money for the time being and also they don't want to meet your kids.
dame lillard is not as big as lebron james or kevin durant, people wont hold his trade request against him (smaller part of our fan base do, but larger part still supports him), despite saying all that stuff throughout the years and then doing the opposite and i dont think he cares about what anyone thinks of him, he wants to get traded to the miami heat and win the chip there and hes ready to accept everything that comes out of it, good or bad
I think Ayton is the only almost AS kind of player I want back. There’s a shot Ayton could still come with 3 1sts. No way Ayton AND OG comes with 3 1sts. I also think Ayton doesn’t make a huge difference for us in winning, and we are essentially taking on a pretty good reclamation project. Even if we are winning, we could capitalize on Ant or Grants value and still get a lottery pick. I would not want to lose out on a lotto talent to overpay OG. There are several 7’0 guys in this draft. Imagine putting the best one behind Ayton, then being able to capitalize on Ayton’s value when our C is ready to start.
Has anyone caught what Chris Haynes said on YouTube two days ago? He said that from what he knows, that after Dame requested a trade and everything else, that we want to trade Dame now and don’t really want him back. So if that’s true, then that explains why we are being aggressive the last couples weeks via trading Dame.
If he did that, he would be the worst villain in all of Sports. His entire persona up to this point would be a sham, and he’d be the biggest phony in the NBA. This man literally has made corny-ass songs about being loyal to the soil, I don’t think it would ever happen. From what I remember during the pre draft process, there was a bit on Dame talking about how he got multiple offers to transfer to a bigger school, but he didn’t because Weber State showed him they wanted him. To assume Dame would ask out right away from Toronto would be discrediting who he is as a man. But if it happened, I look forward to a 30 for 30 on this whole thing in 10 years. PG re-signed with OKC and told the public “if the Lakers really wanted me, they would’ve traded for me”.
I think we should build Cronin a statue if he can trade Dame somewhere other than Miami and get a decent haul.
I think when Joe decided to draft Scoot he also decided that he didn't want Dame on this team anymore. Dame spent time after the season ended trying to force Joe's hand and Joe went the exact way that Dame said he couldn't follow. Joe then paid some lip service about making it work and promptly said he would grant Dame's trade request that Joe pretty much knew he had forced. I am not saying that Joe intended to push Dame out when the season ended but when he chose Scoot and Kris and said he was keeping them he knew what that meant for Dame. I'll be surprised if Dame is here in a week and a half. Joe is getting aggressive and is obviously in serious talks with a lot of teams.
I understand all that and that point of view. I know you’re putting all the blame on Cronin, and maybe lots of what you’re saying is correct. But I want to generally ask you, what if this was the scenario regarding the #3 pick : Cronin shopped the #3 pick, and wasn’t getting back near the value for the pick. Combine that with the fact that Dame said a month earlier, this is make or break for Portland this off-season and to improve the team or else. If teams knew that, and well they did, and was low balling the Blazers for the #3 pick, then what would you do if you’re Cronin? Trade the pick for below value and not even get enough in return to make the Blazers a contender? Or keep the pick, and draft what many said is a super talent and future all star in Scoot? You can’t dismiss the fact that Cronin might have been forced this direction, and Dame added to that by saying it’s make or break for the Blazers making it even tougher on Cronin. Dame could have said all that behind the scenes, but he didn’t. I think blame goes all around, and even to people who aren’t here anymore like Neil Olshey! To put all the blame on Cronin seems kinda unfair imo
i don't think jimmy can wait for giannis. his next player option is two years away and the bucks still have the best financial offer available to him.
Plus the fact that leading up to the draft no one was even sure if Scoot would drop to 3rd. So it was not as valuable before then. I guess one could argue that Joe should have had multiple contingency plans waiting on draft night...but it does take two to tango.
