If it’s Agbaji and a 1st, okay. Doubt Hendricks is available but I would do Herro and Jaquez for Hendricks and a future 1st. THAT would get me excited.
Yeah, and why would the Blazers even WANT to put out the message that they will trade you anywhere anytime you want while you're under contact.
This would be a decent haul if Utah was willing to part with Collins and if Miami was actually willing to push their chips in.
Collins is a negative and we have no use for him. We could have had him for pennies and we didn't go near him. No defense. Doesn't fit the culture. You couldn't ask for a worse fit next to Ayton than Collins. We'd be taking back a young like Agbaji or Hendricks instead.
It was a pure salary dump. How would we have acquired him? We didn't have anywhere near enough space.
It was a pure salary dump because he wasn't worth anything. Really good players don't usually get dumped for nothing. Now you want him to be a key piece in a Lillard trade? It's a terrible idea. I'd rather take the terrible Miami package than him.
But…. The terrible Miami package was PART of that trade idea. Collins would be more useful to us than Herro. I’m not seeing a ton of options out there for Herro.
IMO, the most likely Herro destination is Indiana, with Indy sending Hield to Miami and McConnell to PHX. I'm curious as to whether or not Toronto has any interest in pairing Herro with Trent, but that send like a stretch to me, and I doubt they'd want to help Miami get Dame. Brooklyn seems like the best destination for Herro, but that's just because I'm still interested in gambling on Simmons.
I think Herro has positive value. Collins has negative. If I'm taking Collins I want Hendricks or another good piece but I guess we'll see.
There’s a lot of pressure on the 3rd and 4th teams to deal in these multi-team Miami scenarios. I don’t see there being a ‘herro to Portland’ backup plan.
Collins was just traded to the Jazz for a 2nd rounder…in 2026. Why exactly does us trading for him make it a decent haul? Also, the Suns aren’t taking on Robinsons contract. Trading Gordon’s contract for Robinson’s contract would be idiotic.
It goes without saying but Utah traditionally, when given a choice, goes after the good white players. Thus interest in Herro. Tell me I’m wrong.
the Hawks traded Collins so they could go from 15M over the tax line to 9M under the line. It saved them over 50M in salary and tax. That's where the value was for Atlanta. Collins had a bad season. Might be premature to gauge him by that bad season rather than his previous 5 seasons. Last season sure looks like an outlier at this point
