The analysts are already calling Smith a huge bust because of his 1 td and 11 int performance last year. Theyre saying that they should draft Young instead of Vernon Davis. Does this guy deserve another chance or is he another overall #1 pick bust?
Too early to say at least. He actually played better in the end of the season even though his team kept losing. You gotta admit he got no talents around him so i'd give him time before calling him a bust. But I definately agree with the analysts informing that Matt Leinart, Vince Young, & Jay Cutler are better.
It's kind of unfair calling him a bust. He has no supporting cast and come on his number 1 receiver was Brandon Lloyd who would be a slot receiver for most teams.

Give him 2-3 years before calling him a bust.It doesn't help that his entire team is full of 3rd stringer starters. I think the 49ers really needed to get Javon Walker and Vernon Davis for him to keep his development going forward. Davis is probably going to get double teamed unless they get Chad Jackson or Santonio Holmes with the 22nd.I wouldn't say Cutler or Young are better either.
Eli Manning, I should only say that, and that would be enough, but I'll add on. You can't call Smith a bust when the OL last year was just so bad. This year, it's going to be better, and hopefully, we will get Davis and possibly Walker. That's what Eli needed, more targets. If Smith does not do well this year, you still have to give him another year, it's too early to call him a bust. But, then the other argument is, if we get Walker and Davis, shouldn't he be able to perform well? We will have to wait and see.
You cant say Eli Manning man. Eli had 6 TDs and 9 INTs in his rookie season, huge difference from Smith's 1 TD and 11 INTs rookie season. However in his last two games, Alex Smith threw 28/45 1 TD/1 INT; he won both. Alex Smith will not be a bust, he just did not have much talent around him and was rawer than most QBs that come into the NFL.
Eli played basically the whole year, while Smith did not. Also, if Smith had the OL Eli did, Smith would've had those numbers
Eli had a shitty line also man... Eli is just a better QB. But he did have Tiki, Amani, and Shockey so he had way better weapons.
I wouldn't say that Cutler is better then him, he is just getting way too much hype for my liking. You can't blame the 49ers for what they did, they had to get a franchise Quarterback and he was their best option. They're moving in the right direction though, I would rather have them build the Offensive Line first and then add the playmakers. If we can get Vernon Davis and a descent WR in the 3rd then we could have some solid playmakers on offense.. imagine the two TE sets with Duke and EJ.
