With their current pieces* Miami will not be good in 5 years. The problem is, it's Miami. Between the sunshine, nightlife, beaches and tax setup, Miami will always be a top 5 NBA destination. Sure, maybe they backslide a bit when Riley retires and Jimmy hangs em up, but they -- maybe more than any non-LA team -- have the necessary pieces to reload quickly and routinely...
I still think Lowry's expiring contract, the kind of mentoring he could give our young guys before we buy him out after the trade deadline but more importantly either Jaquez, Jovic or both and both the 2028 and 30 FRPs without conditions would be great for us and it would be the only thing the Heat can do right now to keep themselves in contention.
I think agree they could be *fine* pieces for us... JJJ and Jovic are both rotation guys, but probably not much more, and those picks are both well out and no guarantee to be any good. From both a "fuck Miami" standpoint, and the general "meh" that that package gives me, I just think we can do better for Jrue. There's absolutely a bidding war going right now. Also fuck Miami.
Rockets just paid FVV like 40 mil for a few years and Dillon Brooks at 22 mil,, seems unlikely they'd want Jrue
At some point we're muddying the waters for all the young talent. There's no way you can develop Rupert, Walker, JJJ, Jovic, Murray, Camara all at the same time. Now if you're getting lotto level talent, that's another thing, but we don't need more late 1st round/2nd round talent to add to what we already have.
I'd say it seems likely since it's obvious they want to get better. Not sure where they are in relation to the tax.

Shit like this annoys me. What does "moving quickly" mean? Moving quickly to make a shitty offer does not interest me. "Moving quickly" should mean opening with an offer we can't refuse. But I don't see any of those teams having assets that particularly tickle my fancy. It's kind of sad to realize that Philly could legitimately offer Harden for Jrue straight up, and we'd be quite sensible to turn them down. Harden's going to regret his latest shitfit if he hasn't already.
Kuminga would fit perfectly. He has good ball-handling skills so if there's a lane he won't need help scoring.
I admit, I haven't watched him much. I worry about his shooting, but having his athleticism with Scoot and Shae at the 1,2,3 along with Ayton at the 5 would be WOW.
I actually believe Rupert is the most intriguing guy in that bunch. Already a standout defensive player. Hopefully he can give you more than Roberson did at OKC on offense.
