<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Giants, Arrington reach agreement in principleBy John ClaytonESPN.comThe Giants and former Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington have reached an agreement in principle on a seven-year deal worth $49 million. LaVar Arrington ArringtonFive teams had been in the running for Arrington, but the Giants took a significant step toward getting a deal done Thursday. After Arrington took and passed a physical Thursday, negotiations turned serious and had been ongoing for more than 24 hours. The Packers, Jaguars, Dolphins and Bengals had also been in the mix. Arrington's agent, Carl Poston, said the Jaguars and Packers made progress with their offers Friday, but the Giants took the lead Friday.Arrington had hoped to stay in the NFC East in order to play the Redskins two times a year."Antonio Pierce really made a push to get the Giants to bring LaVar to New York," Poston said Friday. "It's a good fit. It would be great to have LaVar in the New York market."Pierce left the Redskins after the 2004 season and was an instant star in the Giants defense. The Dolphins had a $5 million a year offer on the table. Arrington was hoping to get a deal in the $7.5 million a year range.John Clayton is a senior writer for ESPN.com.</div>YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
G-men going to have a good core of LB's next year with Pierce, Torbor, and Lavar. The NFC East is just getting better and better.
Yep, this division is gonna be good because every teams improving, this is gonna be a war, BTW, im still mad about LaVar being a g-men, wanted him in the AFC
The NFC East is good every year, every team will be competitive. Anyways, I think he was WAY overpaid for TOO long. His injuries may still be lingering from last season, but is still pretty reliable. He should do well and help out an already good defense.
My brother sent me this, its from bigblueinteractive.com<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Giants have officially announced that they have signed unrestricted free agent LB LaVar Arrington, who was waived by the Redskins in early March. The contract is a 7-year, $49 million deal that includes a $5.25 million signing bonus. However, the $49 million figure is a bit misleading. Arrington's base salary will be approximately $3.7 million per season with reachable incentives that could pay Arrington $5 million per season. According to The Star-Ledger, a person familiar with the deal said that Arrington could not earn more than $5 million per season. The Ledger also says the total value of the contract will be determined by how many roster bonuses and incentives are triggered. The New York Post reports that the roster bonuses in future years can only be triggered if Arrington achieves certain honors such as Pro Bowls and MVP awards. Newsday said that if Arrington does not play well, the deal may ultimately prove to be a 1-year, $9 million contract.</div>Guess the deal isnt so bad when its structured that way.
This is common sense, half of those players that got overpaid dont even deserve all that money, i can definately tell you some of them wont play up their tails because of what their making.

And a team that is just becoming great and can reach the SB with a couple more moves? Or that he could start all he wants? Maybe so he can join a defending division champ?
you guys make it sound like we gave him the numbers he wanted. This deal's more like a 1 year $5 Million dollar deal, if he falls flat on his face this year, he gets cut and there isnt a huge hit, if he doesnt, he gets paid the way he'll be deserved to be paid. $49M over 7 years isn't all that bad. he probably wont see a third of this cash eitherway, how many 7 year deals do you actually see where the player doesnt restructure or get cut before it expires?

But we get what you mean.
Dang, Giants must have really wanted an OLB. Arrington sucks and they paid him 7 a year. He's probably going to get 80 tackles, that will help, but he's not good. I liked him a lot, he was a funny ass guy, but his personality is hotter than his game.
