He is. When people think Simmons, they remember the All Defensive teams, passing highlights, etc. while forgetting the obvious flaws in his game that would make him a bad fit on this team. If we didn’t already have Ayton and in a hypothetical world traded Nurk for Turner, then Ben makes a lot of sense as a reclamation project. There is not enough evidence to suggest Ben can ever be a reliable shooter. He won’t even shoot them. Ayton has at least shown that he can shoot elbow jumpers for us to have some confidence he can be as consistent as Aldridge and eventually stretch out to the 3 like Aldridge did later in his career. Guys like Batum can defend and pass and shoot. Guys like Horford can defend and shoot. Offnight can defend. All those guys come with more picks. Ben has a lot of pros, cool, so did DA. He has cons as well. Sometimes, the pros outweigh the cons. I was very anti-Ayton because I had little confidence Dame could get any more out of DA that CP3 couldn’t. When Dame got traded, suddenly the pros outweighed the cons. Ben’s cons still outweigh the pros. If it was Ben + the PHX ‘27 and ‘29 unprotected 1sts, it’s worth the risk. But I don’t think the Nets are taking that deal.
Would PWill come with more 1sts back? I kind of like PWill and Kuminga equally, but I think the Bulls could be more desperate and offer more picks to get Holiday and get rid of Ball. This year is probably the year they have to decide if it’s go all in or rebuild, so an all in move probably costs the one young guy and the two unprotected 1sts.
If this trade is on the table and I would bet that it is then we should pull the trigger. Sure we could try to get one more FRP or a 2026 FRP swap and that would be great but this gives us two young prospects at forward, where we need them. After the deadline both Willaims and Terry could be starting unless Jerami yields a pick and a more sizable option at PF. Anyway two good prospects, one ready to start (Williams) and the other promising (Terry) and a bad contract that's only two years (Ball) along with our draft pick back and future first.
A lot of people say his knee injury is career ending, he doesn't but he's ruled out playing this next season at least. He is a negative value contract at 20M per season for the next two seasons.
I like Lonzo’s game more than Melo’s. But I am strange… Too bad about the knee but he would be a killer backup PG. Amazing passer and rebounder and actually not bad from 3 cuz he worked at a new shot
Imagine if Cronin could get those results in the end. That's , I believe, beyond what anyone mentioned as the best outcome.
CHI makes sense. They give Joe back his pick and maybe a pick swap. Jrue said he would be interested in CHI perhaps?? FWIW, I would be happy with any of the Williams': P or RIII. I just don't see BOS doing it for some reason.
It would be for them, as DeRozan is getting older, they wouldn’t want Lavine to ask out, and they already decided to re-commit to Vucevic with an extension. For us, he’s a piece that could add value. He’ll already be out all of this season. If he can come back next season to play, he’s a A-tier third guard behind Scoot and Shae that can help this young team push for the playoffs. If his career is over as some believe, then he’s just an expiring salary, but that’s why we could ask for a pick and then take a risk on Ball.
I don’t know if Miami gives up an unprotected 1st for CP. That’s obviously an amazing trade if available.
Way too much value for Holiday imo. That’s basically 3 1sts. I’d probably just keep Olynyk. Expiring contract, smart player, can stretch the floor, no reason to not keep him. Love Hendricks. Don’t think Jazz do this though.
