I would take back 1 unprotected 1st and be happy with it. I would view that move as impactful of a trade as any Barnes trade would’ve been. Murphy would be a long term fit on this team for yeeears. It would be cheapest to extend him next summer than let him test the market, but we would have the first piece to pair with the backcourt for potentially at least the next six years. WOW.
Unless the value of the return is 3 unprotected 1sts, I think I would be disappointed. Not sure I would like any of the young guys outside of Hendricks. Agbaji is should not be considered an asset, just filler.
We have been linked to John Collins earlier. If he comes with a pick from UTA, and some assets from MIA, it could be interesting.
Guess that wouldn’t be terrible if he comes with the 3 picks. If it doesn’t work out, he is an expiring in ‘26 when Shae’s extension will kick in.
Yeah, WOW. Good luck defending those guys. Edit: It would be nice for the Dame trade to end in a player who isn't "potential" or a reclamation project.
Here is a framework that works salary-wise. Portland: Collins, Jaime, Jovic Utah: Herro, Highsmith Miami: Jrue
so this would be Herro-->Utah & Jrue-->Miami...right? Miami would still be in the position of having to trade 1st's for Jrue, and Utah would be getting Herro for Collins+ meaning, Portland could theoretically trade Jrue for something like Collins + JJJ/Jovic + Miami 2028 (unprotected) + Miami 2030 (top-10 protected) + at least 1 first from Utah, maybe 2, and maybe a swap somewhere in 2029-2030 if you think last season was an outlier for Collins and his first 5 season are much more predictive that's a pretty solid return
I mean if that’s the case, what are we doing? Our entire team is potential right now. Scoot is potential, Sharpe is potential, Ayton is potential.
add a few picks coming our way and i do that. Utah has a shit ton of em. It would say something about Cronin if he gets this kinda value out of Ainge/Riley.
well, Ayton is both established and potential, so there is a visible floor with him I guess you could make a case that the more potential you invest in the better the odds some of it will pay off I'm just thinking that trading Jrue for Kuminga, CP3, and a far future 1st seems pretty light
That would be more than a pretty solid return, that would be an amazing return. I just don’t think we’re getting that much return from the Jazz for Herro. If you’re talking about getting 5 unprotected 1sts, 2 unprotected swaps, and DA for Dame, eating the rest of JC’s salary, and filler, I’d be over the moon regardless if JC ever returned to his old self. If JC ever became anything of value, I’d be even more thrilled.
I was just looking at salaries. You have to have that first. If you guys think Collins is Meh, then we forget about Utah.
Miami really needs a starting 4 so if they're smart this will be the deal. That pick from the Jazz could be conditional as the second best pick out of the three they own (theirs, Minny's and Cleveland's)
Blazers get 4 unprotected picks and some expiring vets. Jazz get Tyler Herro, Heat get Holiday and can STFU about how we never helped them.
