NO TO COLLINS. Another non-rebounding big man? At least Grant can shoot.

Having a treasure chest of 1sts is going to be very valuable in the next 3-4 years. We already have a lot of guys we are banking our potential on. Unless there is a no brainer fit coming back like Trey Murphy, I’m taking back more 1sts than bringing back potential. Between Kris, Rupert, and Walker, there are plenty of forwards with potential on the team. If their potential isn’t Scoot or Shae tier potential, take the 1sts.

When we have valuable 1sts, we are able to freely trade our own 1sts with wreckless abandon because we have other 1sts that would likely be higher than any of our own.

Let’s say we are in the playoffs consistently by ‘25-‘26, how many teams are going to be able to beat a package of unprotected Blazers 1sts in ‘27/‘29/‘31 + unprotected swaps in ‘28/‘30/‘32 + maybe even another 1st + any players not names Scoot or Shae? That’s 4 total unprotected 1sts and 3 unprotected swaps. If that is the baseline of our offer, we can pretty much trade for any star available.

I'd rather get a picks and prospects right now. Collins is a pretty known commodity and I don't think we want low level starters taking up minutes from our prospects unless they are experienced winners who can show our guys how it's supposed to be done and that's not Collins.

I don't care if we win one game this season, I only care about the development and assessment of our prospects.

It's an interesting question... with the rising cap, his contract doesn't seem as onerous as it once was (and certainly not in comparison to Grant). That said, he's never really been my cup of tea, so if we can extract more liquid assets in the deal and move Collins to Miami, I think I'd do it.

Or just make some medium-grade trades like Denver did to improve the roster.

If taking Collins means more picks I'd be totally cool with that, I was just thinking that Miami might want Collins along with Jrue in which case I'd take an expiring instead of Collins and maybe even get Miami to cough up another pick or a couple of swaps.

Denver’s kind of an anomaly. Denver landed a once in a generation talent and knew how to build around of. Obviously, if Scoot and Shae prove to be that type of talent, then that’s a path to success as well. Having future 1sts just gives us more opportunities.

    Trade for Gordon:
The Orlando Magic traded forward Aaron Gordon to the Denver Nuggets on Thursday, it was announced.
In exchange, veteran shooting guard Gary Harris, rookie R.J. Hampton and Denver's protected 2025 first-round pick went to the Magic.

    Trade for KCP:
The Denver Nuggets have added veteran swingman Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and guard Ish Smith in a trade with the Washington Wizards. In the deal, the Wizards receive Monte Morris and Will Barton from the Nuggets.

    Nuggets receive:

    • Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

    • Ish Smith

    Wizards receive:

    • Monte Morris

    • Will Barton

    he's averaged 9.8 rebounds/36; and has a 15% career rebound rate. He's averaged 8 rebound and 29 minutes. That's solid rebounding, not "non-rebounding"

Honestly, this guy isn’t really on my radar so I have no idea what his reputation is, I’ve hear more bad than good.

Is he blueballing me right now? 4-5 1sts, meaning we could possibly end up with 4 1sts from the Holiday deal?? That would be insane.

"4 or 5 firsts" would imply that Jrue is traded for 3-4 first's. Seems very optimistic

he's annoying, and a shill, but is currently a position where he hears stuff that has proven accurate.

definitely setting the bar high. when we trade Jrue for 2 Clippers picks, the level of disappointment will also similarly be... high.

At this point, I don’t think he’s viewed as a possible asset around the league. He’d be more of a salary dump. I don’t think the Heat are going to want him at his salary.

He’s still 25 though. Best case scenario, he plays into being a trade-able piece or plays himself into a position to opt out after the ‘24-‘25 season.

3 firsts doesn't seem optimistic coming from an eastern conference team, or a team with more picks than they can use.
Teams like Boston and Miami don't want to sit by and watch Milwaukee dominate for the next few years.
Edit: this is their one chance to get Jrue.

Do we have a young forward prospect on the team who has the potential to be as good as Collins? I am not sure we do. I am okay with getting Chicago's deal and going after Williams. But if that is not an option Collins is not that bad.

Depending on the picks I'd personally be happy with someone as good as Collins coming back at a position of need. Just because Scoot is a rookie doesn't mean every single other player needs to be an unproven project. Scoot/Shae/Ant/Collins/Grant/Ayton is a good young core that can compete now.
