What the fuck does that mean? Besides, Tyrese and Fox are.

It's only "benching" if you've been starting before.

    We shall see, won't we.

First of all, spare me the vulgarity when you clearly can't be bothered to read my post. I took a much needed respite for a few months from this place to avoid the toxicity that is ubiquitous. If you can't be respectful, don't bother responding. Can't get into this nonsense again of getting sworn at left and right by people who are reactionary.

    Second.

I clearly specified top 5 picks. You apparently didn't read that point. Tyrese was not nearly as accomplished nor was he as touted as Scoot coming into his rookie year.

Fox started 60 of 73 games. Again, making my point that point guards picked top 5 don't come off the bench.

And on top of that, you seem to think Magic didn't start his rookie year which is just flat out wrong.

Kindly go about your way screaming at the next guy.

Any talk of Scoot not starting is crazy. We just traded arguably the best Blazer ever to clear room for him.

Silly me--I thought we traded arguably the best Blazer ever because he didn't want to be here anymore. :dunno:

I think just the opposite is true. The conventional wisdom around here regarding Scoot and Sharpe is that they are the future so you have to give them a clear runway by starting them. That’s not often the best plan with really young players. Kobe didn’t start his first season. Guys who are super talented still need to learn how to play.

I mean he was 18 and Eddie Jones was 25, had an all-star season, was established as the starter in his position, etc. I can see where Ant starts but he’s no Eddie Jones circa 1996 (or maybe that’s exactly who he is lol)

If I had to pick a post that most likely represents Chauncey Billups's Larry-Brown-influenced thinking, it's this.

Oh, see I thought he just drafted the best player available. I didn't realize Cronin had already decided that Dame was leaving. I missed that memo.

No need to worry about playoffs, we have one of the worst coaches in the league.

Okay. Forum gurus vs. Chauncey Billups and Larry Brown? I can live with that criticism.

Dame wanted us to trade the pick with a threat to demand a trade if we didn't. We picked the best player available, a hot-shot point guard, and didn't trade him. Dame demanded a trade. Did Cronin just bumble into that situation? Do you give him so little agency in those decision?

Cronin did the right thing for the team in drafting when no trade for a better return was available.

The loyal guy decided it was not good enough to benefit him and demanded a trade, becoming a future Miami heat legend in the process

This is why I value these conversations so greatly. I always forget little details like a trade involving the #3 pick that returned reasonable value being available, and Cronin turning it down because he wanted Scoot more than he wanted Dame.

I realize you're being sarcastic, but the fact is that Cronin isn't an idiot. Can we agree on this? It's only sensible that if you have Scoot available at #3, and a 32 year old whining about how he won't stick around for a rebuild, you've made your decision about which you value more by drafting Scoot and keeping him.

While perusing this thread I felt my feet getting wet. Looked down to find us all standing in all the piss and vinegar this thread is generating.......the long term future is looking far rosier than it has in years and the usual "experts" are still taking swings at each other. Only in Blazerdom.............
