It would instill a lot more confidence in me that we are keeping Grant past the trade deadline if the people insisting that this is a fact knew that his first name is Jerami.

I always call him Jeramiah when saying his name out loud. Not sure why, it's just stuck in my head like that for some reason.

I wouldn’t move Grant unless he wants to be moved. He’s a good dude, he’s from PDX and you need solid vets. Not everyone has to be the same age.

to say he's "from PDX" is laughable. Especially considering you're the one who always does the "He Is UnToUcHaBlE" cracks.

He lived here for 2 years. That's like me saying my sister who was born in Texas and lived there for 18 months before my parents moved to Portland, is a "Texan".

it’s destiny/tradition that Grant’s child plays SF/PF for the Blazers in 20+ years.

Zach is not a PF. He had major foul trouble in Portland and that was from trying to defend PF's. He doesn't have the speed and he got caught reaching and grabbing constantly. He was best when playing with Ed Davis, but what I saw in that pairing was that Davis was guarding PF's as much, if not more, than Zach

Gregg Popovich recognized this reality and Zach has played almost exclusively at C for the Spurs. He's listed at 250 pounds now; when he was drafted he was 230 pounds. He's bulked up a little which is better for playing C. Not sure how good it is for his injury-magnetism; in San Antonio he has played 91 games and missed 71. Of course, he arrived there injured so maybe that's not a good gauge

Jerami’s deal is only $15-25m more than Devin Vassell’s new extension. The difference in salary this year is $4m. I’d argue Jerami is more than $4m better than Vassell at this moment in time.

He played one year of college. He was more likely destined to bulk up to 250 because of natural growth.

Vets are easily bought. Experience, though valuable, isn't a hot commodity in this league. Grant has actual, tangible value to teams wanting to win now -- that should be mined and turned into younger players and/or picks assets to better fit our timeline, and the veteran presence can be brought in with guys who don't have that value...

I think Indiana is an ideal spot for Grant.

How about this (after Jan 15):

    Indiana:
    Grant + KJ Martin
    for
Buddy Heild + Obi Toppin + '24 1st (worst of Utah, Hou, LAC, OKC), '25 1st Indiana

Pacers get a great F to round out their rotation. Grant & Walker would make a fantastic duo in the future. They take a swing with Martin to see if he can find a landing spot.

    Philly:
Nic Batum + KJ Martin + Furkan Korkmaz + + '24 1st (worst of Hou, LAC, OKC)
    for
    Buddy Heild + Ish Wainwright

Pacers get a great shooter off the bench.

    Minnesota:
    Kyle Anderson + Leonard Miller
    for
    Nic Batum + Rayan Rupert

Wolves get a bigger wing who can shoot for the playoff run... the Miller/ Rupert swap keeps them below the tax

    Blazers:
    Grant + Wainwright + Rupert
    for
    Toppin + Anderson + Miller + Korkmaz (cut) + 3 late firsts

Portland dumps a bunch of salary. The big prize here is Miller + 3 firsts. They get to take a swing at Toppin & get a great mentor vet in Anderson
