The thing now with the playin is the Blazers could be a bottom 3 team in the west but only a few games within the playin as late as March. Ayton TimeLord Grant Thybulle Ant maybe Brogdon gives the Blazers some solid vets so obviously they won't be good but we've seen many surprising teams with much less flirt with .500. Would be nice to have the young guys playing "meaningful" games well into the season.
My only concern is that those picks in 2028-2030 may not mean anything if the world ends. I could see a zombie outbreak or alien invasion happening before we are able to use them.
The Blazers End Up With a Haul for Trading Dame | The Mismatch | The Ringer They mention Rob Williams becoming valuable to other teams. Could he be traded? Blazers can get assets for both Brodgon and Williams.
By the way, for those people who consider the Dame trade and Nurkic/Ayton trade to be 2 separate trades, the guy who went from Milwaukee to Phoenix played the 4th most MPG for a 58-win team. He's a 40% 3-point shooter who had a True Shooting % of over 60 percent his last two seasons. That 3-point shooting by Allen would be less needed because of Dame joining the Bucks. And I'm sure quite valuable to Phoenix as a depth piece (along with Nurk and Nas) in exchange for Ayton.
So when you look across all of media and all of the outlets that like to discredit this organization, what are they saying? They're not arguing if it's a haul but just how big of a haul it will be when all is said and done. That tells me that without the context of Miami or nothing from Dame, Joe made a trade that people think objectively without context is a haul for Dame. I agree and it's nice to see what I see as that reality validated by many many so called experts.
I have listened to every decent national podcast I can get my hands on and the general consensus is that Joe got more than anyone thought he could. He did a really good job.
In answer to the question, how much did we get for the last 3 franchise players we lost?oh that's right--we got fucking ZILCH to show for the losses of Roy, Oden and Aldridge. So my expectations weren't that high. Best case scenario is that Miami gives a little reach around while plundering our holiest of holies. Cronin did not bend over, though, and just this one time Charlie Brown got to kick the ball. A young center and a stash of Christmas presents we'll be unwrapping until 2030! Woohoo! What is this sensation I'm experiencing? Is there a Blazers term for "not...disappointed...?" If there is, I'm experiencing that!
On this site.....if you like the GM and what he does, it's a haul. If you don't.... If you felt Dame was aging and his value was starting to diminish (for many reasons including his own actions), it's a haul. If you don't.... Semnatics. I love what Cronin has done. The team is young, with good character/hard working players. Arrow is way up. I would much rather watch big potential youth with something to prove, than a fairly set team, restricted by financials/contracts....with an early playoff exit ceiling.
The haul 1) Lillard & his agent and the Heat tried to sabotage the Dame trade request. >result; a firestorm of angry Blazer fans yelling at Miami and Damian for 3 months straight. 2) Woj and others in media go on air multiple times weekly to describe Lillard as too old, vastly overpaid, always injured, and difficult player to trade. Oh... and Herro sucks. >result; Portland is a Lillard headline viral NBA team. 3) Lillard gets traded for popular Bucks All-Star Jrue Holiday. >result; Blazers maintain top trendy news for 2 days 4) Blazers trade Holiday to the Celtics. >result; the major NBA news has shifted to Bucks/Celtics discussions. The Blazers are no longer in headlines. 5) the season is starting soon. Everyone in Portland is excited. Basketball is fun to watch. >result; Portland's local team media is given the reigns to cover what was once a vast NBA news hotspot. One of the first things I heard from local media in the echo chamber once packed with national reporters ... ... the JR podcast frosting the cake Jody Allen has baked for Portland. Everyone should grab a slice. As if one of the few remaining national writers are going to send a viral trendy report that Jody Allen bought a G-League team. That's old news.
