The sane thing would be put forward a moderate Republican who can work with both parties and get support from Democrats. But I am not sure there are any moderate Republicans left. It's Trump's party and they'll cry if he wants to. (Sorry Leslie Gore)
Seems like they'll keep applying public pressure to the holdouts until the MAGA hoards can scare them enough to support Jordan. It appears to be working and barring something unexpected I expect Jim Jordan to be speaker in fairly short order. Jim Jordan is worse than Trump, IMO. He's far smarter and more sinister.
