Time Lord is such a great nickname - one of the best if not the best in the NBA.

    Domin-Ayton??? ---- uhhh LMAO no.

Hopefully we see both of these centers playing well this season, on paper its two great talents and both only 25 years old. We've had some good center duo's and it totally changes the competency of both the starting group and bench units when that is the case.

Plumlee/Ed Davis were a very effective duo for us, both around 20 PER.
Nurkic/Kanter initially was awesome for that few months they were together. Kanter would get huge numbers off the bench and Nurk was beasting on both sides of the ball. Never the same after Nurk's brutal leg break.
Oden/Pryzbilla was a lot of fun for the one season but obviously again short lived.
Camby/LaMarcus was a pretty good duo and yes could both play PF as well.
Sabas/Sheed/Grant/Jermaine was crazy impressive big man group
Duckworth/Cliff were both very effective and such different skill sets.

Very excited to see how Ayton/Time Lord play in the middle for us this year.

It is especially good in a nerdy place like Portland.

the same is pretty much true for Nurkic. My take is that when a big has accumulated leg injuries (and resultant scar tissue), they naturally become more floor-bound and don't have the same extension and hops they did before the injuries. Maybe TimeLord will be different and recapture his mojo, but he's only 3 years younger than Nurkic; will be 26 when the season starts

Rob's rebounding seems to not be affected.

    neither was Nurkic's rebounding numbers

but rebounding is about position and anticipation, not hops, for the most part

blocks are probably overrated as a defensive metric. A player like Nurkic can still be a great defender by controlling the paint

Hopefully Robert will still be able to be a good player when his athleticism declines, using his huge 7'6 wing span and 9'4 standing reach. He'll at least be able to rebound and finish. A lot of shot blocking is about timing. Pryzbilla was a good shot blocker but wasn't a great leaper. There's also a gambling aspect to going for blocks vs maintaining position.

If Dallas offered THJ, Lively, the unprotected ‘27 1st and a ‘26, ‘28 pick swap (so we would get the better pick between the DAL/MIL pick, I think?) for Thybulle and Williams, do you take it? This is a trade I can see going down if Dallas is a wreck defensively. The ‘26 swap may or may not be worth anything. But when you take into consideration that the Mavs have no more 1sts to give to make any more trades and Kyrie is Kyrie, the chances that it could be good is higher than no chance at all like the Bucks or Nuggets. And by ‘27, I’m not so sure Doncic stays in Dallas.

Just watched his first interview. I’m excited to see him on game day. In limited spurts, if we surround him with Grant and 3 other shooters, we might look great on both sides of the court.

I'm also a Matt Smith guy. I feel like the writing team really hit their stride during his incarnation.

The Blazers probably had the best example (rebounds-wise) of all time - Zach Randolph.

I had no idea about his passing. His assist numbers don't seems high enough to make a video about it, but I do like the idea of a taller high-post passer with lots of movement and outside shooting.

I'll put it here for people who missed it in the training camp thead.

This part was funny (at 3:48):

Interviewer: "You said you had your dog with you?"

Rob: "Uh , yeah, Malcolm, that's my dog."

Interviewer: "What kind of dog is Malcolm?"

Rob: "Malcolm." (bobbing his head up and down)

    Interviewer: "That kind of dog."

Rob: "Malcolm." (bobbing his head again)

    confusion.

Rob: "MB is not a dog! Malcolm you're not a dog!"

(Earlier in the interview he had referred to Malcolm as his "dog" that came with him in the trade.)

Totally. I liked David, but the episodes were a little hokey (and my favorite Tennent ep is "blink" which barely had him...tho I did like the Donna Noble stories more than Rose).

The writing for Capaldi weren't great, but they were 80 bajillion times better than that for Jodie.

And to save time for HCP, virgin, moms basement, incel, blah blah blah.

For me, it was that Matt was the first Doctor I watched, (oddly enough, it was his first episode). I do like David but I hate to refer to anything I like as the "LeBron" of something.
