Me too. I can see DPOY potential. That would be way in the future but it's his insane work ethic, length and agility.

per-100 possessions is directly above the advanced stats table. Only had to do one screenshot. And if you want to compare players, per-100 possessions normalizes the numbers

He's young and long but I just don't think Rupe's feet are quick enough or he can get to a strength level to be special defensively.

Offensively he's kind of a mess for me. Really slow with the ball and has no explosiveness.

His play style and instincts are that of a guy that likes to play with the ball, but I just don't think he has the talent to do that. If I could buy his shooting getting to a really good level I'd be a little more in on him, but it's tough to project that considering his track record so far.

Rupert looks like he has a 'long' way to go. Long way.

Hopefully he hits the ground running this year.

I love Knox body language in media day. I think he is primed for a comeback/breakout year.

I don't think either will amount to too much. Walker and Rupes maybe as rotational players. Hope I'm wrong and at least one of them pops.

I agree. If you look around the league at flier wings worth taking a shot on, Knox is on the list. There’s a bunch of draft content on YT with Schmitz—guy loves him.

I just read Knox is on an Exhibit 10 deal. He'll be playing with the Remix more than likely unless he can clearly outplay the other 3 guys who have actual regular seson contracts.

Spotrac says Knox is on an exhibit-9 contract, not exhibit-10

    upload_2023-10-6_21-55-2.png

    https://www.spotrac.com/nba/portland-trail-blazers/cap/

"An Exhibit 9 clause protects an NBA team in the event that a player suffers a significant injury in training camp.

If a player on a standard non-guaranteed contract without an Exhibit 9 clause suffered such an injury, his club would be required to pay him his salary until he’s healthy enough to play or until the end of that season, whichever comes first. For example, a player on a non-guaranteed rookie minimum deal who sustained a season-ending ACL tear would be owed his full $1,119,563 salary.

If the injured player’s contract includes Exhibit 9 language, however, his team could waive him and only be on the hook for a one-time payment of $15K. That amount has increased from $6K in the NBA’s previous Collective Bargaining Agreement.

An Exhibit 9 contract, which is non-guaranteed and doesn’t count against the salary cap until the start of the regular season, can only be a one-year, minimum-salary deal. A team can carry up to six players on Exhibit 9 deals, but can’t sign a player to such a contract unless it has at least 14 players already under contract (not including two-way deals)
    ."

    https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2023/08/hoops-rumors-glossary-exhibit-9-contract.html

from what I've read, an exhibit-9 contract is essentially and exhibit-10 with an exhibit-9 clause.

I liked the way that he talked. He's got a great body you are right. Oh, I mean he has great body language. For real, I thought he was a great interview. I was really impressed by him.

I think Kris will be a rotation player in the league for a long time if not a starter and he has the highest floor of the guys mentioned in this thread. I think Toumani has the next highest floor and maybe a little more upside. I think that leaving Rupert out of the conversation is a mistake, I think he has the lowest floor and highest ceiling among our young forwards. I think we know what Knox is, could he level up? sure but it's unlikely. Jabari has the lowest ceiling of any of our young forwards, dude just isn't quick enough, from what I've seen.

Kevin Knox ‘s new contract with the Trail Blazers is an Exhibit 10 deal, Hoops Rumors has learned. That doesn’t mean Knox won’t have an opportunity to make Portland’s regular season roster, but if he does, he’ll be on a non-guaranteed, minimum-salary contract that only covers a single season.
(I think this was the article...there are a few, I didn't know there was an Exhibit 9 contract. Learn something everyday I guess." Says the same thing on hoopswire and hoops rumors and a couple other sites but I believe wizenheimer probably knows more in detail ..

If talking great, having great body language and being a great interview made you a great player, Shane Battier would have been one of the greatest basketball players of all time, the reality is that he was never an all star.

But he was an awesome glue guy. All we want is Knox to be a decent role player.

I don’t know about DPOY potential but he looks like he will be a great defender. He’s going to have to improve his handle or his shot to get any playing time though.

I’m so excited about Rupert’s potential as a defender. 6’6 without shoes (6’7-7.5 in shoes) with a 7’2 wingspan is menacing on defense against opposing PG/SGs. He’s 195lbs right now, 20lbs on that frame and he’s going to be an All Defensive kind of guy. Immediate Thybulle replacement.
