Hate to be that guy, but I wanna say it before we play our first competitive game: Simons is the black sheep of this team

He's gonna get his stats, he will average the same points on good % of players who's gonna make the ASG, but those stats won't mean anything to us

He's the Monta Ellis/CJ McCollum of the situation, the sooner we get rid of him, the better

We're fortunate to have a guy like Scoot who's a team first guy, but Simons is the opposite

He will dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble and then again dribble dribble dribble and then Jack up shots like there's no tomorrow

He can't defend even against Steve Blake at 50

He's gonna steal minutes from Sharpe, possessions from Scoot

Honestly I was so hyped for this season but Anfernee is at risk of ruin everything

It just depends on how you use him. As a catch and shoot player, late shot clock or last shot of the quarter guy, he's the best we have and it's not close. He's playing the position of Shooting Guard, which is where he belongs.

He's also fine as our backup PG.

What he isn't is Dame 2.0. Scoot is our point guard.

I prefer giving the last shot to Scoot or Sharpe even if they fail, it's for a better purpose than giving it to Simons

He's a nice guy so it won't be as evident as it should be but as far as real utility in a winning basketball team he's in the same conversation as Monta Ellis, CJ McCollum, JR Smith, OJ Mayo and so on

Cronin has done so many good things, but this is the last one to complete the puzzle and eliminate forever the ghost of Olshey: trade Simons

If the management will try to sell him as THE GUY we're gonna ruin Scoot, Sharpe and even Ayton

    I'm very worried about that.

He's a good stats, bad team guy. That's always been his destiny until he figures it out. You can call him a "shooting guard" but I don't think that's how he sees himself and I fear he'll be the ball stopper on offense, always looking for his own. I agree he's the one that kind of stands out on this team as not being a piece that fits moving forward but I'm not sure what the market is for him. Would you take a lottery protected 1st years down the road for him?

Why do you think it's been impossible to trade him?

And yet there will be people mid-season who's gonna yell: "Anfernee is underrated!" "he's got All star numbers!" "He's still only 24!" "Dame loved him!"

    Such a shame...

My hope is that somehow someway Orlando who is his hometown wants him...

I would trade him even for Isaac

To unload him you will have to sweeten the deal with Shaedon or a pick etc. I am not ready to give up on him just yet. Who else on the roster can get hot from deep? Shaedon does not want to be here anyways. I am convinced of this. Send him to TOR where he wants to be and include Ant perhaps a 3rd team etc.

Simons has a place on this team. It's called 6th man. That is my opinion of course.

As much as I don't like him there's no way you have to include picks or Shaedon to unload him

Given the new cap numbers he doesn't have a bad contract...

The problem is that there isn’t a clear pecking order right now. We saw Grant kinda just flail and try to do too much at the start. We saw Ant and Scoot actively working on who is running the team. This needs to be Scoots team. He is the engine.

Are you telling me roles aren’t completely ironed out after a three day camp and one preseason game?! Holy shit what news this is.

Scoot got 6 assists in 19 minutes. He is the point guard. Simons got hot and ended up with 14, but didn’t get an assist. He’s the shooting guard. Scoot is already running the team, and Simons is our leading scorer. We won the game which doesn’t count. Sounds like folks are worrying just to worry.

Every team needs a couple of outside shooters. Who is better than Ant on this team at that?

I know why some of you dislike Ant --- Dame basically handed the mantle off to him as he left town and we all know some of you anything Dame likes your like "F" that. Now do not get me wrong I am not saying Ant is a great player but some of you act like he is a damn scrub and that is not the case either. As always the truth is somewhere in between cause he has shown signs of being a Top 50 player and then there are times where he kind of fades in the back round and is forgettable. I like Ant but until he gets a little killer instinct he will always just be a solid player who could be more. This is why Dame leaving could be a good thing for him cause I think and for good reason sometimes always just stayed in Dame's shadow and seemed happy to be there except for maybe 5 to 10 games a year where she showed MAYBE he had that IT factor. This year is a do or die for Ant when it comes to being a true star player cause nothing is in his way so he either takes that next step or he will always just be a slightly above average piece on a team and will always be known as a shadow of what he COULD have been in the league.

It's one shitty exib. game with a whole host of new young players. I am not a big Ant fan but frickin A, lighten up and let's see how thinks go for 15-20 games at least, it's going to be a losing season anyway

Nothing matters except getting everyone lots of touches and getting them good coaching.

If that happens the cream will rise to the top.
