Age has nothing to do with it. I’m sick and tired of undersized score first guards who don’t play defense getting slotted in at the two spot.

Interesting. I watched it. Right here on my couch.

And on the way to the store. And when I was waiting for my wife at the store.

    Scoot looks GOOD.

Right in line with him no longer being super young and on his first contract. Very much how this board in general reacts to players.

By the time Sharpe gets to his 2nd contract, he'll be the whipping boy, regardless of production. It's just how it seems to work. Unless he's a top 75 player of all-time; those get a little longer rope.

this isn't about new shiny things...this is about the recognizable tarnish on an existing thing

I assume you meant you are tired of score-first guards who don't play defense slotted at SG. Because there are plenty of undersized guards who play great defense........and also big guards who are good defenders but who can't shoot very well. Neither is ideal.

Also, if Ant is undersized at SG but he is guarding PGs....is he still undersized? The bottom line is he needs to be a better defender, and we all need to stop focusing so much on him being undersized. I have seen his measurements listed with both a 6'7" wing and a 6'9" wing. Not sure which is correct but both are long enough.

Hornets, Rockets, Spurs, now the Wizards. They all use offense-only undersized guards stuffed into the starting positions.

One of those teams got Wemby last year. Another team was supposed to get Scoot, but they are really stupid and actually believed Danny Marang's analysis after workouts prior to the draft. "omg, Brandon Miller might be better then Durant. Wow... Wow."

I literally watched Ant defending a small white guy last night one on one and the guy blew by him when Ant didn't even bother to chase him.. just dropped his arms and watched the guy make a layup uncontested. I wanted Chauncey to get in his grill and call a time out but...not happening. It's time for Chauncey to put an address on the lack of effort or step aside and let a new coach teach the game. Ant played like it was fanfest last night. I'm giving Chauncey till Christmas to show me he can guide a team and develop winning habits.

He was that from day 1. I don't keep track of your takes specifically (outside of the one saying the 2019 team was the worst in history), but I will stand by my stance of the S2 board whipping-boy predictability model. It doesn't fit every poster with every player, but in general, it's mostly fail-proof.

Sharpe will the whipping-boy by 2025-26, I'm calling it now.

I think it is related because when the new shiny things come in and are immediately over-valued, it seems to directly correlate with looking for and pointing out the flaws of the players who have been on the roster and therefore undervaluing them to justify the case for why the new thing should play. Every year there is a 2nd round pick in the pre-season that people want to give rotation minutes to over a far superior player who has been on the roster. I also feel we see the newly acquired players via trade getting the same undeserved bump over a returning rotation player.

Why would he be guarding point guards? Isn’t that who Scoot is guarding?

maybe I’m just confused but it seems like you’re quoting back to me what I already said.

There are already people bashing on Shaedon. Why wait until 2025?

Maybe you didn’t notice, but people have been bashing on Simons for a LONG time.

Oh for sure. There is always someone bashing on any specific player, I didn't mean to imply that players on their rookie scale deals are never criticized. We could have the best player in NBA history on the roster and there would be people nit-picking their weaknesses.

What I'm pointing out is that by the time a hyped guy gets to his 2nd deal here, he usually goes from being generally over-valued by the board to under-valued, in place of the new rookie who is going to be different and better!

The site is a bit wonky again.....I double posted and when I deleted the second post both disappeared. Basically I had said my target was the coach and he hadn't won shit in Portland yet. Ant is a 6 man trying to be a starting 2 guard and will never be an alpha...something to that effect.

Why can't Scoot guard SGs? He is long enough and he is certainly strong enough.

    Charlotte - 6'1 Rozier/6'7 Lamelo
    Houston - 6'4 Porter/6'7 Amen
    Spurs - 6'1 Jones/6'5 Vassell
Wizards - I don't know who they will settle on and I'm not sure it matters

    Blazers - 6'3 Scoot/6'3 Simons

and of all those players listed, there's no doubt who the worst defender is

and it's entirely possible those 5 teams could be the bottom 5 teams in the league this season...or at least 4 of the 5 with Detroit

I thought the 6' Van Vleet was starting with the 6'4 Green for Houston.
