He was also the league-leader in assists (10.5) and shot nearly 50 percent from three-point range. The Suns are currently playing the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.A year ago, Nash edged Shaquille O'Neal in what was the fourth-closest balloting in history.</div>http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2422255
Well, deserved. He made a team that everyone thought wasn't a playoff contender to a 50+ win team which is very impressive. If you didn't know, they did not have Amare, Joe Johnson, or Q-Rich. That was just amazing what Steve Nash was able to do because he has so much talents and he can make you better.

[/quote]I'm talking about fucking Shawn Marion. One of only 4 20-10 guys in all of basketball. And he's been doing it year after year.
Marion is definately underrated man, but to say hes a top 5 player in the entire league is a major reach.....

He's 13th in Points, 3rd in rebounds, 3rd in steals, 12th in blocks. He's pretty much the best all around player in the NBA. He's not the best scorer, not the best defender, not the best rebounder. But a strong case can be made for him to be the best player in the NBA, and he is most definitely top 5.
Marion was his only weapon. The other candidates have a lot more around them then Nash does. Marion is def top 5. I agree he's versatile but he doesnt exceed them like the top 5 players do.

You realize that right?
You didn't finish that sentance."While LeBron, Pierce, T-Mac aren't as strong as Marion, you could make a case that at PF, they would rebound just as much."It's the positioning of a PF not the strength that really matters. LeBron and T-Mac can make up for the minor decrease in strength with their jumping ability and speed. Pierce I would say is only a few steps behind in strength. Plus they don't have fucked up looking jumpshots.

And it goes in more often then T-Mac and Lebron, who you love so much. The reason you can't find 5 players with a better average rank, is that there AREN'T 5 players with a higher average rank. Marion is the best all around player in the NBA, and if you look into history, he doesn't need to Nash to be that either.
Marion had the benefit of Kidd in the beginning of his career and Stephon Marbury in the middle of his career. Those were years that Kidd averaged 9.5+ assists and Marbury 8+ assists. He's had dishers all his life in the NBA...

Almost every statistical category improved when he went to the suns. He became an all around player and the most improved. Almost everybody on the suns had career highs in ppg. Ok thafranchize . Kobe probably has less talent than Nash but he only got them a 7th seed while Nash gave them a 2nd. The talents on both teams arent extremely different. Each has a very good player with solid players around them.
