It seemed like Bob blamed him too. Especially blamed him for not playing Jermaine.

    He scores.

    What else does he do?

Chauncey Billups won a championship ring as a starting PG, was an all-star.. He's proven... Nowadays I'm sure he wouldnt want prove you wrong, he'd want his players to... Chauncey will score 0 points this season he retired decades ago..

    but in the same vein...

CHAUNCEY CAN DRAW THE GREATEST OUT OF BOUNDS PLAY OF ALL TIME.. and the inbounds passer can botch the pass.. n so the play looks botched.. but it seems to me the negative nancies round here would promptly call the greatest out of bounds play of all time a bad play because the player didnt execute it --- n thats where it becomes foolish n unrealistic, which is why i bring up the idiom --- trying to squeeze blood from a stone..

Scoot and Sharpe. Ant was going most of the game, but he's going to end up being in Scoot's way.

some people just need to explain things thru scapegoats.. which is how the media winds a lot of people up so its fairly common..
they dont want to look further than finding some scapegoat to blame..

i think its more that sort of thing than anything that happened in this particular game.. if ya ask me..

cuz these scapegoat people, they never want to listen to reason that "there's a lot more to unpack" these scapegoat people almost always are just hellbent on finding someone else to blame.. so they can sit there n point n laugh like nelson muntz..

Just because you are a championship player doesn't mean you will or can make a good head coach.

I'm not taking about running plays. I'm talking about guys getting back on defense or making effort to get out to 3pt shooters. Not making multiple rainbow passes in a single possession which, surprise surprise, ended up getting picked off.

They are out there playing lazy, half-assed basketball, and that's why they were down 30+.

Billups is leaving those lazy players on the court because he either doesn't have a problem with it or he doesn't know how to fix it.

And I'd really love to see our points guard bringing the ball up the court rather than our shooter doing it.

I'm going to assume your question implies you don't think he does anything else.

21/5 as a starting SG isn't terrible. So he can score on and off the ball, create for others at times, and reduce help-side defenders effectiveness.

    Have you read his book?

If I recall correctly, Bob hired Dunleavy. I don't believe Dunleavy felt he had the job security to develop young players with the championship window being open. Turns out, he was right. Bob thought Mo Cheeks was a better replacement.

So two out of three things that you used as a rebuttal to me saying he scores is that.... he scores.... and his scoring reduces help-side defenders effectiveness. Well.... that's still..... scoring. He puts up a few assists. That's nice. I think Brogdon is a better facilitator than Simons. He's also considered a better defender. And if you didn't notice, he scored more points tonight on better shooting splits. :dunno:

Ant is a good scorer. Maybe a great scorer. But I think Brogdon is a more complete player right now.

Well earned criticism. He's still probably the 3rd or 4th best coach Portland has had.

ya know like is it chauncey billups fault that scoot henderson gets blocked at 0:38?

its not a matter of the players shot selection at all?

what about jerami grant getting blocked by zubac at 0:49?

that one on coach billups too?

the players are underestimating the quality of the help defense.. no? Its a matter of feel for the game no? prime D-Wade finds some way to get free throws on those drives, cuz he anticipates the defender successfully, instead Scoot n Grant fail n get stuffed..

clearly thats a matter of poor shot selection..

is coach billups responsible for famine and war in the middle east as well? it never ends with these blamegame people..

Cuz when I see this footage I think, Zubac's in good shape this season! he's looking leaner than usual!

Ya know its like the world doesnt revolve around the portland trailblazers, the other team n their players are involved in the result of the game as well! breaking news!

I don't use the box score from one game to make my point or draw conclusions, but if Ant having a better game than Brogdon next week will change your mind, I'll bring it back up.

I like Brodgon, but I'm going to stay away from the new shiny object syndrome.

Neither Ant nor Brogdon should be a top 3 player on a roster.

I miss the days of being upset the GM wasn't a chemistry major and debating on if the head coach was good enough to get us to the finals after making a couple conference finals. Those were fun problems!

Brogdon is a ROY. he’s a 6MOTY. I think he has a tad bit better resume than one game.

I was really impressed with Ant tonight.
He made some really good reads. He had several drive & kicks right on the money.

He actually tried to play defense.

I've been in the trade Ant camp - but so far in preseason & tonight's game, Id want to keep him.

If the entire offense is built around isos and players going one on one while making it up as they go, that is 100% on the coach.

No matter how bad the spurs are, pop has that team playing good basketball. They just have not had great talent. Good coaches teach good basketball. Ball movement, player movement. ISO bullshit was McMillan ball. It was Stotts ball. It’s currently Billups ball. I’d love to get a coach that pushes his team to pass the damn ball and move without the ball.

You brought up his box score tonight as a part of your point, not me. If single game boxscores are irrelevant, I'll pretend you never said it.
